15 Cool Things to Know about Google Home Alarms
Alarms also work on Google Assistant smart screens. Interestingly, you can even set a music alarm, stop the alarm from your phone and do a lot of other interesting things.
Let's start with tips for using alarms on Google Home.
Note: You can use your favorite alarm clock words like Hey Google. For convenience, we mentioned Okay Google in the post.
1. How to set an alarm on Google Home
You can use various voice commands to set the alarm on Google Home speakers. These include:
- Ok Google, set an alarm at 6 a.m.
- Ok Google, wake me up at 6 a.m.
- Ok Google, set an alarm for Monday 6 a.m.

If you have several alarms, you can give a name to your alarms. To do this, say the command "Ok Google, set an alarm at 6 am called water".
2. How to set an alarm for each day
You wouldn't call Google Home a smart speaker if it couldn't set off a recurring alarm. You can either set the alarm for all days or select a day while speaking the command. For example,
- Ok Google, set an alarm at 6 a.m. every day
- Ok Google, set an alarm every Tuesday at 7 a.m.
Google Assistant will repeat the alarm you have set. In case the Wizard misunderstood it or if you want to cancel it, say "Ok Google, cancel the previous alarm".
3. Change the alarm tone of Google Home
You can't directly change the alarm tone on your Google Home, Mini or Nest. But you can set a music or character alarm tone, as shown in the next section.
4. How to set the music alarm on Google Home
Imagine waking up to your favorite Spotify song! Well, that’s possible thanks to Google Home’s musical alarms. To do this, you must first set a default music provider in the Google Home app. You can set Spotify, YouTube Music, etc. as your default music provider.
To do this, open the Google Home app and tap Settings. Scroll down and tap Music.
Then select a default music service.
Once you've set up a music account, it's time to ask Google Assistant to set up a music alarm. To do this, run one of the following commands:
Note: The multimedia alarm works for songs, your playlists in the music service and radio stations.
- Ok Google, set the alarm (playlist name) at 7 p.m.
- Ok Google, set the alarm (song name) to 8 p.m.
- Ok Google, set the alarm (radio name) to 9 a.m.
You can even ask Google Home, "Ok Google, play music at 8 am" and it will ask you what to play.
Note: To stop a musical alarm, say "Ok Google, stop". Other alarm commands such as canceling or verifying alarms also remain the same for musical alarms.

To repeat an alarm on Google Home, just say "Ok Google, repeat". By default, it will repeat the alarm for 10 minutes. If you want to increase or decrease the duration of the repetition, say "Ok Google, repetition for X minutes". For example, repeat for 15 minutes. "
7. How to stop an alarm
You can stop the alarm on Google Home either by voice commands or by pressing on your device. Last year, Google introduced the deactivation feature of the alarm by simply saying Stop. Yes, you don't have to say Ok Google before the word stops. So when the alarm starts to sound, just say stop.
