4 Best Ways to Fix Downloaded Songs Not Showing on Apple Music

Although Apple Music is an online streaming platform, you can download music for offline listening. This is useful in situations where you cannot stream music due to a bad Internet connection. If you can’t find some (or all) of your songs downloaded from Apple Music, find out a few ways to restore them to your device and how to prevent the problem from happening again in the future.

You wake up one morning, and the Music folder downloaded to Apple Music is gone, and with it all the songs you’ve saved on your device for months. Or maybe years. Logging out of the Apple ID is a common cause of this problem. Other times, certain settings in the Settings menu on your phone may delete songs from Apple Music without your knowledge.

Depending on the cause of this issue, you may or may not be able to recover the missing downloaded songs on your device. If you sign out of Apple ID, for example, all songs downloaded for offline listening will be deleted / deleted from your device. This means that you will have to download the missing songs again when you sign in to your Apple ID again.

2. Reactivate the Apple Music & Sync library

Disabling Apple Music on your device, intentionally or by accident, will make your download inaccessible. Some users who have encountered this problem have found it effective in bringing back the music downloaded in Apple Music.

Here’s how.

Step 1: Launch the settings on your iPhone (or iPad) and select Music.

If they are enabled, you can disable and re-enable them. You can also restart your device and check if your downloaded songs have been restored.

3. Log in to Apple ID

Third, you want to make sure you’re signed in to your Apple ID on your device. If your downloaded songs are not found or maybe Apple Music is not playing your downloaded songs, make sure you are signed in to Apple ID on your device. Here’s how.

Step 1: Open the Settings menu on your device and select the “iTunes and App Store” option.

Note: This will only restore the songs that you saved to your Apple Music, not the songs that you previously downloaded to your device.

4. Deactivate Optimize storage

To help you save storage space on your iPhone, Apple has designed the “Optimized Storage” function. This automatically deletes the downloaded songs that you barely listen to when your device runs out of storage space. While this really frees up storage space on your iPhone, some of your songs on Apple Music may no longer be available for offline playback.

If optimized storage is enabled on your iPhone, you should disable it to prevent songs from being deleted from Apple Music without your knowledge. Here’s how.

Step 1: Open your phone’s Settings menu and select Music.

2nd step: Scroll to the Downloads section at the bottom of the page and tap Optimized storage.

Step 3: If enabled, press the button next to the optimized storage option to disable it.

This will disable automatic deletion of songs downloaded from Apple Music on your device.

Methods # 3 and # 4 will not restore the missing songs to your Apple Music. These are just steps to prevent your downloaded music from disappearing on Apple Music. That said, if you are unable to restore your downloaded music, you will have to manually download it again to your device.

To download your songs to your device again, launch Apple Music, click the Songs folder, and tap the cloud icon to download each song to your device.
