9 Best Fixes for Downloads Keep Pausing in Chrome on Android

The native download option in Google Chrome is pretty handy. We can download anything from the Internet without any hassle. However, Chrome or other browsers sometimes have trouble downloading files. Are you facing the same problem on your Android phone? Learn how to fix downloads that don’t work in Google Chrome on Android.

Many users get the interrupted download error when they try to save something using Chrome. Resuming the download does not seem useful because it remains blocked when the download is interrupted or waits for download status errors.

In this article, we will explain how to fix Chrome which does not download files on Android.

1. Restart the phone

Sometimes a simple full reboot can do wonders. Restart your phone before trying the following solutions.

2. Check the storage capacity

If your phone is running out of storage, you will have to face download issues on Chrome and other apps like Google Play Store. So check the available storage space. To do this, go to Settings> Storage. If it’s full, find out how to free up space on Android phones.

3. Check the data saver settings

If you are using the data logging mode on your phone, you must whitelist it so that it can have unlimited access to the data. For that, proceed as following:

Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and tap Apps.

2nd step: Tap Chrome and then tap Mobile data or Data usage.

Step 3: Activate the toggle for “Allow use of background data” and “Allow application when data saver is enabled”. Your phone may have a different name for these two settings. But the main idea is the same, that is to let Chrome use the data in the background and whitelist it when the data saver is activated.

You will also lose any customization you have made to the app.

To clear Chrome’s cache and data, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and go to Applications.

2nd step: Under All apps, tap Chrome.
