A Complete Guide to Creating and Using Facebook Avatar
The times are changing. These days, the ability to express your feelings is not limited to words or emojis. Companies like WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat, and Apple provide fun ways to connect with friends and family. You can use stickers, gifs, create your avatar using Memoji and Bitmoji. Facebook is also getting on the train with the launch of Avatar. The world’s largest social network is launching its version of Bitmoji and Memoji called Avatar.
Launching Avatar on Facebook is a big deal because it has a direct impact on over a billion users. You can create an avatar on Facebook and use it anywhere in the app. Users can use avatars while commenting on posts, set it as profile picture and Messenger chat windows. Apart from that, users will also be able to export these avatars to third party apps like Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram.
In this article, we will talk about the customization options offered by Facebook to create an avatar, how to create one and use them in Facebook comments, Messenger, etc.
Where is the avatar on Facebook
Facebook has started rolling out Avatars around the world. You will find the option in the Facebook menu.
When you try to comment on a Facebook post or send a message to a friend in Messenger, try using the emoji menu, and you will see the service asking you to create a new avatar for yourself.
Create your avatar
Facebook, just like Bitmoji and Animoji, offers a bunch of customization options to create the avatar you want. Follow the steps below to create your avatar on Facebook.
Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your iPhone or Android.
2nd step: Go to the Facebook menu in the lower right corner of the iPhone. If you are using Facebook on Android, the option will be in the upper right corner.
Step 3: Select the Avatars option.
Step 4: Select your skin tone. Facebook offers over 30 skin tones. Choose what best resonates with your avatar idea. Tap Next at the bottom.
Step 5: Now is the time to add more items to your avatar. First of all, you need to add a hairstyle. I love the way Facebook offers filters like short, medium and long hair to quickly find the hairstyle you are looking for. You can also change the hair color.
Step 6: Navigate through the customization options using the menu bar above. The next option is the shape of the face. Select the one that suits you.
Step 7: Add skin tone and lines to your face.
Step 8: The next option is for eyes, eyebrows, and glasses. You can choose from dozens of eye shapes, colors, and makeup.
Step 9: The following menu will allow you to customize the nose, lips and facial hair with color. You will be surprised at the options available for facial hair.
Step 10: Now select your body, outfit, headwear, and earring. After that, you are good to go.
Step 11: At any time, you can go back to the menu and modify any detail. When done, tap the Done button in the top right corner.
Give it a few seconds and hit the Next button.
Now Avatar is ready to be used on Facebook. Tap the sticker menu above and watch the ready-made stickers based on your avatar.
Where can you use the Facebook avatar
Facebook has implemented Avatars well in the app. You can use them anywhere on Facebook, including status, profile picture, comments, and Messenger chat.
To use these avatars in post comments, tap the emoji icon and switch to the purple colored Avatar icon.
The method is also the same in the Messenger app. While chatting, tap on the emoji option and open your ready-made avatars.
To share your avatar in the Facebook feed, go to the Avatar menu and tap on the share menu in the top right corner. Facebook will allow you to choose from three available poses. Choose the one you like and hit the Share button below.
In the same share menu, you can select “Set avatar as temporary profile picture”. Facebook will offer six poses to be defined as a profile picture. I appreciate the addition of the face mask, given the current times. You can also select the different background colors to accompany the profile picture. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the sharing settings from Public to Private.
