How to Backup Contacts on Any Android Phone

Switching between phones can be confusing and tedious for non-techies. Apple makes the process flawless thanks to the close integration of iCloud. Google is also progressing with the Google Drive backup and sync service.

When you switch to a new device, the number one priority for almost everyone is backing up and restoring contacts and messages. It should appear when a user connects to a new device.

Android offers several methods for backing up and exporting contacts. In this post, I will guide you through the easy ways to do it.

Major Android-based phone manufacturers, such as Samsung and Xiaomi, are offering a native cloud solution for data backup, but I will not advise you to do so. It only works on their devices and you will not be able to access backup data on the other OEM device.

The methods mentioned below are very useful for backing up contacts on all Android devices. I’ve covered ways online and offline to do the job. I will also include third-party alternatives if you do not want to use Google. Let’s start.

Use of third-party alternatives

It’s quite possible that you have not invested in a password manager and can not remember your Google password. This happens often with my father. And I prefer to use something more than the usual method of Google to make a backup of contacts on his phone.

If you’re a privacy person and do not want to rely blindly on Google services, you may be looking for an option. In both cases, these are reliable options that you can check.

1. Super backup

Super Backup is an ultimate backup tool for Android. First, you need to download the app from the Play Store.

It can help you back up application data, SMS data, contacts, call logs, calendar, and more.

Contact Backup "width =" 1153 "height =" 2048 "data-sizes =" auto "sizes =" (minimum width: 976px) 700px, (minimum width: 448px) 75vw, 90vw "srcset =" https: // cdn. guide to connect to the following letter:? 1569758163 340w
Super Backup "width =" 1392 "height =" 2474 "data-size =" auto "sizes =" (minimum width: 976px) 700px, (minimum width: 448px) 75vw, 90vw "srcset =" https: // cdn. guidetech.com/ to present itself on the following site:? 1569758295 340w

Tap the Contacts menu and select from multiple options. Use backup contacts with phone numbers. The application will generate a .vcf file containing all the contacts and give you some options to send it.

You can still download the file to Google Drive or send it to other people via the default share menu.

The application also offers you to perform scheduled backups periodically. Go to Settings> Schedule Settings> Standard Contact Backup> and choose the default options.

Automatic backup "width =" 1153 "height =" 2048 "data-size =" auto "sizes =" (min-width: 976px) 700px, (min-width: 448px) 75vw, 90vw "srcset =" https: // cdn.guidingtech.com/imager/media/assets/ bosco? 1569758163 340w
Continue saving "width =" 1392 "height =" 2474 "data-sizes =" auto "sizes =" (width-min: 976px) 700px, (width-min: 448px) 75vw, 90vw "srcset =" https: / / cdn.guide 3 months ago:? 1569758297 340w

You can also use the automatic download settings to automatically download the saved file to Google Drive or any other email. Use the Delete after upload option to automatically delete the file after the process.

I put it every three days. Thus, the application will make a backup of contacts every three days and send the file to Google Drive. Only after this will the contacts backup file be deleted from the device.

2. Easy backup

Easy Backup is no longer a contact manager to manage contacts while on the go. The application will ask you first to create an account. The default backup option will generate a VCF file and give an option to send it to others.

The Contacts tab displays all contacts, duplicates, similar contact names, and unnumbered contacts.

Easy backup "width =" 1153 "height =" 2048 "data-size =" auto "sizes =" (min-width: 976px) 700px, (min-width: 448px) 75vw, 90vw "srcset =" https: // Cdn.Guide bbp? 1569758298 340w
Backup in duplicate "width =" 1392 "height =" 2474 "data-size =" auto "sizes =" (min-width: 976px) 700px, (min-width: 448px) 75vw, 90vw "srcset =" https: / / cdn.guidetech.com https://cdn.guidingtech.com/imager/media/assets/239932/duplicate-backup_40d? 1569758299 340w

You can delete unnecessary ones and merge duplicate contacts directly from the application. The My Backups section displays all the contacts saved offline from the past.

Unlike Super Backup, Easy Backup does not allow you to automatically generate a backup file. This is something I would like to see in the future version. You can change the themes of the application from the settings menu.

The best part is that Super Backup and Easy Backup are free to use the basic functions.

Carefree contact management

Use one of the methods mentioned above and transferring your contacts will be a simpler process. You can still use Google Drive sync to move data from one device to another or opt for offline methods to generate backup files and send them to others. The time when many were using the Titanium backup to take a copy of the phone’s entire data, including applications and settings, is over. It’s a bit useless, especially if you switch to a phone from another manufacturer and its version.
