Google Translate and Microsoft Translator are completely free with no ads. Google Translate supports all popular platforms like Android, iOS, and web, as well as smart devices like Home via Assistant. It also offers a (paid) API used by countless developers in their apps and websites. Speaking of websites, you can use browser extensions to easily translate entire web pages or parts of them.

Along with Android, iOS, and the web, Microsoft Translator also works on Windows 10 computers and supports Apple Watch. Both translator apps support WearOS for Android smartwatches. Are you making a presentation? Translator also integrates with other Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint through add-ins. Other supported apps include Outlook and the Edge browser. Microsoft also offers an API, but it doesn’t seem to be used as widely as Google’s API.

Lost in translation

While most people use Google Translate, I can see why many are switching to Microsoft Translator. The ability to communicate with a group of people in Conversation mode is a real plus. Moreover, this user interface looks elegant and also works well. This does not mean that Google Translate is obsolete. He’s still the king of translation apps, but now the search engine giant will have to take an active approach. The competition is heating up in this space and Microsoft is looking to dethrone the ace.
