How to Add Text to YouTube Videos After Uploading
Sometimes the text does not match the speech of the video at all, which can change the interpretation of sentences and sentences.
Therefore, it is essential that your videos – both upcoming videos and already downloaded videos – have the right text alongside them so that the true meaning is not lost. In such cases, deleting a video and uploading it again is out of the question, as you will only lose the number of views and other statistics.
Fortunately, the YouTube video editor (Studio) comes to the rescue when you need to add text to YouTube videos after downloading.

Yes, you read correctly. You can download and add subtitles to old and published videos on YouTube. And the good thing is that you can just select a timeline and add text to it, and leave the rest of the videos as is. Cool, right?
Plus, the process is as easy as pie and only takes a few minutes, that is, if you have the text written with you.
So with that, let's see how you can add text to YouTube videos after downloading.
How to add text to YouTube videos after download
Step 1: Once connected to YouTube Studio, select the video you want to add text to and click Subtitles in the left menu.
If this is the first time you are adding a subtitle file, the studio interface will ask for the language. In our case, we chose to go with English.
2nd step: After adding the language, you will see a narrow panel at the top. Click the three-dot button under Subtitles, as shown in the screenshot below, and select Edit.
You will be immediately transported to the editing screen. Now add the subtitle. If you want to add a few words, drag the search bar to the time of your choice, then add the text in the indicated text box.
After that click on the little Plus icon. Do the same for the rest of the video. Once done, you will see the text added in relation to the given time frame.
Pro tip: Press Shift + Enter if you want to add a new line to the text.
Step 3: Once you've added and double-checked the added text, click the Publish button in the upper right corner.
The text will be published on the video in question. Now check the text in the video.
After that, every time you open the subtitle editor in YouTube Studio, the added text will still be visible to you with the time stamp.
Note: Users will only be able to see the added text if they have closed captions / CC enabled.
Problems with subtitles
The problem with YouTube Studio is that the speech recognition engine automatically creates a series of empty blocks without text. And if that happens, your viewers will see black blocks on your YouTube videos. I am sure you would not want this to happen.
So if you see something like this on one of your videos, it's fixable.
Step 1: Open the subtitle editor for this video and select Actions> Download, then select .SRT from the list. Open the file with a text editor like Notepad or Notepad ++.
You will now see that all of the subtitle text has a time stamp.
Just delete the blanks and save the file.
2nd step: Now go to the Edit window in YouTube Studio and hit the Edit button, then hit Replace.
Then click Actions> Download File and download the files you just edited. And that's it.
Once the changes are published, all empty boxes will be removed from the videos and only the text you want to display will be visible. Yes, you can thank me later.
You can also use the buttons on the user interface to delete empty texts, if there are not many. To do this, click on the cross icon next to each text.
And once everything is finalized, click on the Return to YouTube Studio button in the upper right corner.
