How to Fix Houseparty Not Working Issue

Video conferencing applications are prominent in home work solutions and have experienced explosive growth recently. For casual and professional video calls, these apps are a boon. One of these apps is Houseparty, which allows users not only to talk to each other, but also to play cool games at the same time. The only problem is that the Houseparty app doesn’t work or even load for some users.

The app is available on iOS and Android, and there is also a web version. Let’s see what we can do to remedy the situation so you can go back to jokes and play video call games in Houseparty.

1. Application / server side errors

The recent increase in the number of users has caused all kinds of problems. Houseparty shared recent update declaring that they were faced with “certain problems” without being too specific. I suggest you check their Twitter account for official announcements.

2. Access and authorization

Is the Houseparty app loading correctly but still not working properly? One reason could be the lack of appropriate permissions such as access to the camera, microphone and gallery. Let’s start with the browser. Go to the camera under Settings or copy and paste it into a new tab.

Check if Houseparty is listed below the block list and if so, delete the list. Now repeat the same process for the microphone, which can be found along the path shown below.

Relaunch the web application. This time, be sure to allow access to the webcam and microphone when prompted, among other things.

On Android phones, go to Settings> Applications> Manage applications> Houseparty and open the application permissions. Make sure he is allowed access to contacts, the camera and everything else. Otherwise, Houseparty will not function properly.

In the case of an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings> Houseparty and grant the necessary permissions.

Note: Most people have contacts stored on their smartphones. If you have not authorized Houseparty to access it, it will also not appear on the web application (browser). This is why you may be wondering that even if the web application is working properly, why can’t I see my contacts. You can’t because you have to sync them from the phone first.

3. Number of devices

Houseparty says that whether you have a beautiful face or not, you can only party on one device at a time.

Close all other instances of the Houseparty app under your username and choose a device. Choose your party location. This is another reason why Houseparty does not work for you.

4. Old cache, corrupted data

The old cache or corrupted application files may be responsible for a Houseparty operating error. Again, I’m going to start with the browser.

The options and location may vary depending on the browser you are using. Go to Settings and look for the Clear browsing data option under Privacy and security. You must delete cookies and cache files. Note that this will log you out of all sites, not just Houseparty. Save everything before moving on.

Android users will open Settings> Manage apps> Apps> Houseparty and tap Clear data at the bottom of the screen. You can delete the data and cache files from there. This will require you to reconnect to the Houseparty app. Check if the app works after that.

5. Reinstall

I suggest you repeat the steps from the point above before uninstalling Houseparty and reinstalling it. You will benefit from two advantages. The first is that you will automatically use the latest version of the application which should fix all known bugs and errors. The second is that if you do not delete the cache and other old data files, they may continue to interfere with the operation of the application. And you certainly don’t want that. Always go for a clean installation when reinstalling an application regardless of the platform.
