What makes the Fitbit Versa 2 special is that it handles notifications for text messages and emails rather transparently. The ease with which you can check the priority of incoming messages without unlocking your phone is a blessing.
Just raise your wrist to check out Versa 2. And the story doesn't end there. On some Android phones, you can even reply to some of these messages as well. Sounds interesting, doesn't it?
In this article today we will show you how to get notifications for text messages on your Fitbit Versa 2 on Android and iPhone. And that's not all, we will also show you how to add a bunch of personalized quick responses to make your job easier.
How to get text messages on Fitbit Versa 2 from Android
Step 1: Open the Fitbit app on your phone and tap the little profile icon in the upper left corner. Next, tap the card that says Versa 2 and click Notifications.
2nd step: Then tap on Application Notifications and choose your default message app from the list. Android users can even select WhatsApp at this point. Cool, right?
Now you need to send yourself an SMS and you will see the same notification on your Versa 2, with the option to respond. So just tap on it and dictate your message. I can't do better than this.
However, at this point you need to activate the Voice Answers option for the voice answers to work.
How to send personalized Versa 2 responses on Android
The text-to-speech technology in the Fitbit Versa 2 is pretty good. It translates little words and phrases fairly quickly without any problems. However, when it comes to slightly longer sentences or complicated words, this does not give the right to the first try. And if you have to use this feature often enough, it could prove to be counterproductive.
In such cases, the quick response of the Fitbit app appears in the image. Using it, you can create custom answers ready to use. So if you often answer "I'll take a look at it", you can add it to the list. You can even reply with emojis to incoming SMS and messages.
In the notification window, tap Quick replies> Messages and add the replies you use frequently. The same goes for Emojis. If you use the Thumbs up emoji more, tap on one of the emojis to replace it.
The next time you receive an SMS, simply scroll down the list and select one of the responses from the list. That too without even unlocking your phone. Yeah, you can thank me later.
How to get text messages on Fitbit Versa 2 from iPhone
The configuration of text messages on the iPhone and Fitbit Versa 2 is almost similar to the Android configuration. However, you need to make some additional changes if your iPhone is on iOS 13.
Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and tap Notifications> Messages. Here, make sure that the banner style alert has been activated for text messages.
At the same time, set Show previews to Always or when unlocked.
2nd step: Then open the Bluetooth settings, tap your Fitbit device and flip the switch to Share system notification.
Step 3: Now go to the Fitbit app on your iPhone and tap on the profile icon in the upper left corner. Then select Versa 2 from the menu and choose Notifications from the list.
Once done, flip the switch for the text messages in the list. At the same time, you can also activate calls and calendar events.
The only limitation of the Fitbit iPhone app is that it does not have the ability to respond quickly. You will therefore have to use your phone to reply to messages and others.
Note: The Android application only took a few seconds to configure. It took me a few tries to set up notifications for iPhone. Make sure that the Bluetooth messages and settings are changed beforehand. Once done, you may need to restart the app and watch it.
Manage notifications on iPhone
When the notification is activated, your Versa 2 also displays all the notifications sent by e-commerce and banking applications. While this can be helpful, it can sometimes be annoying, not to mention the time.
The good news is that the app gives you more control over the notification you want to receive on your phone. To do this, press the notification card and switch the buttons of the applications for which you do not wish to be disturbed.
Apart from the above, the Fitbit comes with several options and features that allow you to use it as a mini computer. Alexa on your wrist means you can set up reminders and tasks without having to unlock your phone. All you have to do is go to the last screen and tap on the Alexa icon and go for it.
