How to Reduce Background Noise in Voice Memos on iPhone

Applying voice memos by default on all iPhones takes a simple approach. There are no advanced audio recording features like those we see in some third party apps. Things changed recently with the launch of iOS 14, where Apple introduced the enhanced recording feature along with a plethora of other features.

This feature reduces the background noise that often plagues voice memos, resulting in sub-par audio files. It just ruins the vocal notes when you hear noise and whatever you or someone else has said. Apple wants to change all that with a flick of the wand, literally.

Let’s take a look at how voice memos work and where to find this new improved recording feature along with other notable changes.

1. Create voice memos

There are two ways to record a voice memo on your iPhone running iOS 14. One is to open the app and press the big red record button at the bottom of the screen to immediately start recording. voice / sound.

The other way is to launch the Control Center and tap the Voice Memo icon to launch it. I want to tap the icon in the control center to start recording immediately, but that’s just me.

When you are finished, press the red button again to stop recording. You should now display the named record, by default, based on your location. You can now play, edit or delete the recording. Tap the name of the recording to edit it.

Note: If you press and hold the voice memos icon in Control Center, it will show you options to start a new recording or go to the last one.
