The Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool is a command line tool that can be used to modify, repair and create system images, including the Windows Recovery Environment, Windows PE and the 39; Windows installation. This tool was introduced in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 which can perform maintenance tasks on a Windows installation image online (i.e. the one the user is running) or an offline image in a WIM folder or file.

What is causing Windows error?

For a variety of reasons, your Windows operating system may experience problems in maintaining its functionality. Some reasons are

  • Corrupted system registry files: When your Windows operating system is used, dozens of files get corrupted in its system. Over time, registry files can also get corrupted. And when that happens, the system registry is compromised and you face several crashes.
  • Malware– When you download third-party software into your Windows operating system, some of it may contain adware that pop up advertisements suddenly or others may contain viruses that can cause serious havoc in your system.
