How to Turn off Notifications from Google Chrome

Step 1: Visit the relevant website and tap the tiny lock icon in the address bar.

Do not request notification

Windows and Mac also provide a way to completely turn off notifications from installed apps. Follow the steps below to turn off Chrome notifications on Mac.

Note: Google Chrome does not use native Windows 10 notifications to send alerts. That’s why you won’t see the name of the app in the Notifications menu in Windows settings.

Android

The notification situation is even worse on Android because notifications from websites can quickly fill the notification area. On mobile, you can receive content suggestion notifications based on your usage. Follow the steps below to turn off Chrome notifications on Android phones.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome browser and tap on the three-dot menu above.

Step 3: You can turn off the content suggestion notification.

Step 4: Scroll down to the site notification menu.

Step 5: Here you will see the list of websites that are sending you notifications.

Note: There are no such issues on the Chrome iOS app. Apple does not allow third-party web browsers to send notifications to users.

Block notifications from the Google Chrome settings menu

Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome and tap on the three-dot menu in the top right corner and select Settings.

Step 4: Tap the three-dot icon and delete them (it will ask you for the notification permission again when you visit the website). Use the Block option to completely block these notifications.

Use Chrome guest mode or the profile selector

If you use Google Chrome on one PC and share it with other family members, you may receive notifications from Google Drive, Google Docs, etc., profiles of other users.

For example, if another family member is using the Chrome browser to edit Google Docs or Google Sheets, you may receive notification from those services. In such cases, it is not advisable to completely block notifications from Google Chrome.

In such cases, you can opt for Google Chrome’s guest mode or the profile selector.

You can tap the profile icon in the search bar and use Google Chrome as a guest. If you plan to use it regularly, select add> write account name, select the appropriate image. It will open a separate Google Chrome profile and ask you to sign in using Google Account credentials.
