How to Use Logic Jump for Multiple Choice in Typeform

One of the most useful features of Typeform Logic Jump is to make your forms and surveys neat and clutter-free. This feature helps you eliminate a complex overcrowding process from your form with unnecessary questions. It also becomes convenient for respondents to answer your surveys because they don’t have to go through questions that don’t matter to them.

In short, Logic Jump allows you to put the “If or Else” situation in your forms. All you have to do is mix some interactive elements into your form, and you will have an engaging form in no time. Well, the analysis part will also become easier.

The good thing about Logic Jump in Typeform forms is that they apply to the majority of question types, including multiple choice questions or multiple choice questions. Well, the installation process is not difficult either.

How to add logic to the mix

Creating a long and complicated form can be a difficult affair, and it would have an impact on anyone losing track of the questions and the flow. Therefore, it is always advisable to have a draft on hand before going any further.

The good thing about branching in Typeform is that you can see a neat flowchart as you progress with branching. This helps you to go back in case you notice any problems with the jumps.

Step 1: To start, create the basic structure of your forms, such as adding the title, the welcome slide and all the common questions, including multiple choice questions.

Then create the different sections that you want your questions to branch out to. When finished, prepare to link the question to their respective sections.

In my case, if you select branch A, the flow should go to the questions of branch A, and the same goes for branches B and C. Once you have answered the relevant questions of the branch, the flow must go to question 7, which is a common question. question.

2nd step: To add a jump, click on the logical jump icon> Add logical jump and add the condition followed by the link to the sections, as shown in the screenshot below.

As mentioned earlier, the organization chart makes the process easy to understand. At the same time, if you are in Editor mode, you should see which section your answer will go to.

Step 3: However, we are not finished yet. We must do the same for branches B and C. To do this, double-click the small Plus icon to add two other logical jumps.

The problem with Logic Jump is that unless you add a specific “Else” condition, all of your questions will follow the question timeline.

In my case, if I do not add the final condition “ Otherwise ”, the branch A (Q # 4) will always be directed to (Q # 5 and Q # 6), and the same goes for the branch B also.

Of course, we do not want this to happen.

Step 4: To manage it, click on the Logic Jump icon of the respective questions and add the link to the common question (in my case Q # 7), as shown in the screenshot below.

Do the same for Q # 5 and Q # 6. In the end, your organization chart should look like this.

After making a draft, click on the test logic in the upper right corner to verify the logic. If everything is properly aligned, it should work. Your form with logical connection has been created.

Things can be a bit confusing at first. But there is a good chance that you will quickly become familiar with it.

Bonus type tips and tricks

1. Validation of the response

Similar to Logic Jump, Typeform also includes some additional features. And one of the most practical is the option to add validations. So, if you want a number-based field to not accept zeros as answers or a text-based field except long answers, it’s possible.

Tap the little screwdriver icon next to each question and you’ll be taken to the Settings page.

Here you need to add the necessary validation.

To go to the next question, click the small arrow next to Question Settings.

2. Change the color scheme

If you choose to use one of the templates, chances are your form will look good and beautiful. But did you know that beyond the colors of the model, you can always choose different themes?

Yes, you read correctly. Not only are there many themes to select from, but you can also go ahead and customize it to your liking.
