Image Resizer, Window Walker, Markdown, SVG Preview PowerToys in Windows 10

PowerToys is a powerful open source tool for Windows 10, which provides useful features such as multi-zone for monitors, file renaming, etc. This software has been updated and now offers four other utilities – Markdown and extension of the SVG Preview pane, Image Resizer and Windows Walker.

We’ve already taken a look at the following Windows 10 PowerToys:

  • FancyZones to improve multitasking when using multiple windows
  • Power Rename which can rename multiple files with right click

  • Shortcuts guide to discover essential Windows shortcuts.

The FancyZone zone reversal works between several screens and replaces the hot replacement and flashing function. It is good to see active development for PowerToys and to bring so many useful features. File Renamer or “Power Rename” has been incredibly useful, and now with the image resizer in place, it will get better.

Now let’s see the new additions.

  1. Image Resizer Shell window extension
  2. Window Walker, an alternative to alternative tab
  3. Extension of the Markdown and SVG component

1]Image Resizer Shell window extension

Right-click on one or more images and choose to resize the images from the context menu. Then you can select from the predefined resizing options (small, medium, large, phone). If the requirement is different, you can choose the custom option. To modify the predefined sizes, click on Parameters and you can modify each one. You can also create new dimensions, change encoding and file name settings.

With the Resize option, you also have the option to change the orientation to the left or right for all images at once.

To maintain quality, check the box which ensures that the images remain smaller and do not become more substantial. Likewise, I chose to skip creating duplicate copies and ignore the orientation.

2]Window Walker: Find and change open windows

Al Tab Search

It allows you to search and then switch between open windows in the system. This includes browsers, explorers and even applications. It looks like the search bar available in macOS, but only for open windows so you can find them faster.

So instead of Alt + Tab, you can use Win + Ctrl to open the search field. PowerToys plans to merge this into the Launcher project in the future.

3]Extension of the Markdown and SVG component

If you often need to process MD and SVG files, you can preview them in File Explorer using PowerToys. Once activated, you can click on the Display tab in the ribbon, then on “Preview pane”.

PowerToys is also working on the automatic update function, so you don’t need to update the next version manually. The next version will also include keyboard mapping, replacing Win + R and improving the fantasy areas.

You can download the latest version of PowerToys from Github.com.
