Pixelitor is a decent enough Graphics Editor for Windows 10

It is very important to have the right graphic editor for your personal and semi-professional needs. Most people would just opt for Adobe Photoshop, but it is quite expensive, therefore most of us are not too keen on taking this path. As we should all know by now, the web is filled with several free tools for the job, and many of them that you may have heard of in the past. However, we are not going to talk about these many tools, but rather about a program with the name, Pixelitor.

We have been using this tool for a few days and so far it has impressed us a lot. Now Pixelitor is nowhere on the same level as Adobe Photoshop, and it is not a bad thing if you are looking to do basic tasks more than anything else. Not only that, but the software doesn't use a lot of Windows 10 system resources, which means it should work fine on an older computer.

Before we go any further, we should point out that Pixelitor is a Java application, so you will need to download Java Runtime Environment before installing it.

Pixelitor Graphics Editor program

Pixelitor is a free Graphics Editor raster program for Windows 10, which supports layers, layer masks, text layers, drawing, multiple undo, etc. It comes with over 80 image filters and color adjustments.

1) Tips

OK, so the first thing you will see after opening Pixelitor for the first time is a tip box. This box will display the relevant information each time the program starts, but if you prefer not to display it every time, remove the check mark from View startup tips.

2) Add a new image

When it comes to adding your first image, click File> New Image, or CTRL + N. Yiu should now see a small window where the user is required to determine the width, height and filling, and from there press the OK Button. Right away, the user now has a place to work and create an image from scratch.

3) Open the image

The next option is to work on an already created image. This can be done by selecting File> Open Image or CTRL + O. Additionally, if you click on File, the option is there to display recently used images. Also keep in mind that you can open multiple images at the same time as each will be in its own tab.

All tabs have a small x on the edge, so when you feel the need to close one of them, just click the x and you're ready for tango.

4) It's time to edit a photo

Editing is very simple, especially if you have worked with image editors before. Most actions are the same or similar, so if you want to select a tool to use, just go to the left side of the program. Most of what you need is there, which is good.

Now, in terms of simple photo resizing, please click Image at the top, and from there take advantage of the many options available from the drop-down menu.

5) Color and filter

Ahh yes! What is an image editor without the ability to use colors and filters? After all, this is the era of social media and Instagram.

From the color section, people can change the color balance, saturation and much more. However, make sure you understand what it all means and what you do. When it comes to filters, well, we haven't seen anything unique yet, so if you already have filters in similar tools, you've seen everything.
