Top 10 Ways to Fix App Store Waiting for Download Error on iPhone
You can open the App Store and search for apps. But the download button does not work or the download does not progress. It is blocked and the small blue circle which indicates that the download is in progress does not move.
Let's start.
1. Restart your iPhone
There are two ways to restart your phone. The first is to press the power button until you see the Slide option to turn off. It's a regular reboot, but sometimes you have to do a hard reboot.
Press and release the volume up button, press and release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button. You should now see the Apple logo. Check whether the App Store pending download error is resolved or not.
2. Update the operating system
Apple is good enough to push updates for its devices. It contains security fixes, new features, and fixes for old bugs. Check if an update is available and if so, update it immediately.
Go to Settings> General> Software Update to check.
You can also turn on automatic updates here to receive immediate notification when the next is available.
3. Try again after restart
If the app download is blocked and the App Store is waiting for the download, cancel the download and restart the iPhone. Then try to download it again. Some users say waiting a few minutes before restarting the download also works. If you download multiple apps or games at the same time, cancel all of them and do it one at a time.
7. Parental controls
All Apple phones come with parental controls, which allows them to restrict app purchases and built into your phone. Kids can rack up incredibly high credit card bills if you're not using the purchase verification on the App Store. It's easy to get carried away. Take control of their browsing activities so that they don't come across questionable content.
8. Reinstall
Some users have reported that they can install the app or the game, but it just wouldn't be open to them. It is a kind of dead icon. Go to Settings> General> Device storage, select the app or game that you want to uninstall and delete it from there.
If that doesn't work, long press the app icon on the home screen and select Delete. This is how most of us uninstall apps anyway, but the first method works best for troublesome apps or games.
9. Log out and log back in
Many users have seen the success of this step. Open Settings and tap on your account name and profile ID.
Tap the logout text in red font. Wait a few seconds, then reconnect. You will need to enter the Apple ID and password as well as a 2FA code if you have set one up. Are you still getting the App Store waiting for a download error? Hopefully not.
10. Reset network / device settings
Open Settings and press General to select Reset.
This is where you can reset everything on your phone. Let's start with Reset network settings. If you're having network issues like Wi-Fi or mobile data, try this. You will only lose the saved Wi-Fi passwords, but no apps, app data, photos, documents or any other data will be affected.
The last and least favorable option is the removal of all content and settings. This will return your phone to the factory condition, as it was when you first unpacked it. All data will be lost, so be sure to take a backup first.
One app for everything
There is an app for everything. Well, almost everything. Not being able to download this new game that you want to try is not cool. The App Store works perfectly for the most part, but when it doesn't, it doesn't. The App Store waiting for a download error is not a big deal and should be fixed now.
