There can be several reasons behind the notification problem on iPad such as do not disturb mode, low alert volume, paired bluetooth devices, etc. For some, the problem can be fixed with a simple restart. Others may need to reset iPad settings.

The solutions mentioned here will work on all iPad models – iPad Pro, iPad, and iPad mini. Let’s see what works for you.

1. Restart the iPad

As with mobile phones, you need to start the troubleshooting process by restarting your Apple iPad. Sometimes a simple fix like restarting iPad will bring back a notification sound. To restart iPad, press and hold the physical power button. Then drag the power off slider to turn off the iPad. Once fully closed, hold the power button again to turn it on.

2. Check the sound of the iPad

Many times the iPad is either muted or the volume is low. It makes people think there is something wrong with notifications.

There are several ways you can check the sound of iPad. To get started, repeatedly press the volume up button on the side of the iPad to increase the volume. A volume slider will appear to display the volume level. Make sure it is high.

However, this is not enough. By default, the volume buttons only control the media volume, not the ringer and alert volume. You need to enable the ability to change the volume from them in the settings. So you need to increase the alert volume from the settings. To do this, go to Settings> Sounds. Increase the volume level using the slider under Ringtone & Alerts. If you want to control their volume with the volume buttons, turn the Change with buttons setting on or off as needed.

Pro tip: If the ring style is already active, turn it off once and then turn it off.

7. Check Bluetooth

Bluetooth was responsible for not making the notification sound on iPad for many iPad users who were going through the same issue.

When you connect your iPad to a Bluetooth device, the connection sometimes remains active, and all audio from your iPad goes to your Bluetooth device (headset, speaker, etc.) instead of the iPad. To resolve this problem, you must disconnect the Bluetooth device or turn off Bluetooth.

To do this, go to Settings> Bluetooth. Under My devices, find the connected device. Disconnect the connected device. Otherwise, just turn off Bluetooth using the available toggle.
