Top 12 Ways to Fix Couldn't Communicate with Google Home Error

Sometimes Google Home generates errors such as unable to connect or could not communicate while you are trying to configure it. 1. Restart the device

Start by restarting your Google Home and your router. To restart, you must disconnect and reconnect them after 20 seconds. This will do the trick.

2. Check the minimum software requirements

If you try to configure the Google Home speaker from an Android phone, it should be running Android 5.0 Lollipop and higher. Likewise, Android tablets should have Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above. For iOS (iPhone and iPad), the minimum software required is iOS 11.

3. Use original accessories

Always connect your Google Home with the supplied AC adapter and cable. Do not connect it via a USB input on your TV or a direct USB socket from another device.

4. Be within range of Wi-Fi

5. Update the Google Home app

6. Uninstall the Google Home app

Sometimes due to incorrect settings or a problem with the app, Google Home fails to connect. So uninstall the app from your phone. Restart your phone, then download it again.

7. Activate Bluetooth

If Google Home or Mini continues to generate the "Unable to communicate" error during setup, turn on Bluetooth. To do this, first of all, restart your Google Home. Go to Settings on your Android or iPhone and turn on Bluetooth. Then open the Google Home app and start the setup with Bluetooth enabled.

8. Activate airplane mode

Airplane mode stops all connectivity on your phone. And by doing so, it helps us to solve various problems related to the same thing. For configuration problems on Google Home, activate Airplane mode on your Android or iPhone. Then manually turn on Wi-Fi. This will turn off airplane mode. Then open the Google Home app and start the setup procedure.

9. Forget the Wi-Fi network

Another way to fix the connectivity problem on Google Home speakers is to forget your Wi-Fi network in the Google Home app.

To do this, follow these steps:

10. Check the linked account

If you've already set up Google Home and get the "Unable to communicate" error after setting up, you need to verify the associated Google account. 11. Check the number of devices connected to Wi-Fi

Does your modem have restrictions on the number of devices that can connect simultaneously? If so, that could be the reason. If you're not sure, try disconnecting another device from Wi-Fi. Then try connecting Google Home or Mini.

12. Reset Google Home
