Top 3 Ways to Stop Emails from Known Senders Going in Gmail's Spam Folder

Have you ever missed an important email because it never made it to your inbox and went straight to spam? That’s because email providers like Gmail already use sophisticated filters that automatically move all suspicious or unwanted emails to spam. However, legitimate emails are also falsely marked as spam.

Best Ways to Prevent Emails from Known Senders from Going to Gmails Spam Folder

Gmail’s filter marks suspicious mail as spam. There is no way to define or control the type of emails marked as spam. That said, you can use the methods below to ensure that future emails from known senders land in the Inbox instead of the Spam folder.

Of course, you’ll need to know the email address of someone you want to whitelist. You can use any of the methods below to prevent their messages from landing in Gmail’s Spam folder. Let’s look at this.

1. Add an address to the contact

The easiest way to prevent emails from known senders from entering spam is to add them to your contact list. This helps Google know that the contact is someone you know and that their emails should land in your inbox.

Follow the steps below to quickly add a known sender as a contact on Gmail.

Step 1: Open Gmail in a web browser.

2nd step: Open the email of the person you want to add as a contact.

Step 3: Move your cursor over the name of the email sender and select the Add to Contacts icon from the menu that appears.

And that’s about it. Since you have already received an email from this contact, Gmail will automatically fill in their name and email address.

If you want to add someone as a contact from whom you haven’t received an email, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Log in to your Gmail account on a web browser.

2nd step: Click the Google Apps icon in the upper right corner and select Contacts from the resulting menu. This will open the Google Contacts site in a new tab.

2. Mark as not spam

Another way to prevent your important emails from landing in Gmail spam is to mark them as not spam. This will immediately move the email from the Spam folder to your inbox and help Google understand that emails from this sender are important.

This method is also useful if you’ve mistakenly marked someone as spam in the past. However, you may need to do this multiple times for the same sender.

Step 1: Launch your favorite web browser and sign in to your Gmail account if you haven’t already.

2nd step: Use the left pane to access the Spam folder.

Creating filters in Gmail lets you automate your inbox with a series of custom rules. You can use it to whitelist multiple email addresses or domains at once to ensure that all emails from those addresses are never sent to spam. Here’s how.

Step 1: Log in to your Gmail account and click the gear icon in the upper right corner to select See all settings.

You just need to separate the email address as shown below.
