Top 4 Ways to Fix Taskbar Turned White Issue in Windows 10

Most of us click on the taskbar to access frequently used applications and services, display the time, etc. It offers a practical space to switch between open applications or launch new ones from pinned icons with one click. The taskbar is always visible, unless you have chosen to hide it when it is not active. However, this can be disturbing when the taskbar suddenly turns white for no apparent reason.

How to fix the problem of the taskbar turned white in Windows 10

This won’t break anything for most users, and you should be able to use the taskbar as usual. However, it sounds strange. The reasons for this particular behavior can be attributed to a change of parameters or another bug. So we found four simple solutions to solve this problem.

Here are four ways to restore your taskbar that suddenly turns white in Windows 10.

1. Change taskbar settings

Right-click on the taskbar and select the taskbar settings.

Correction of the taskbar turned white in Windows 10 1

Click on the Colors tab in the left bar. On the right side, scroll down the page until the heading “Show accent color on the following surfaces” appears. Uncheck the box for “Start, taskbar and action center”.

The taskbar may have turned white because it took an allusion to the wallpaper, also known as the accent color.

You can also completely turn off the accent color option. Go to “Choose your accent color” and uncheck the option “Automatically choose an accent color for my background”.

Now come back to the office and check if the taskbar is still white or not. If so, check the following patch.

4. Registry editor

I would recommend that you make a backup of the Registry Editor or at least the folder you are trying to modify before moving on. If you do not know your way in the Registry Editor, we recommend that you modify the Registry files (Safe Mode) and restore the backup if there is a problem on your Windows 10 computer.

Note: This solution also has an impact on the color of Cortana’s search field and the choice of the relevant value will also change it with that of the taskbar.

Search for Registry Editor or type regedit from the Start menu and run it with administrator rights.

If the WhiteSearchBox folder is missing, you can create one. You also need to create the key and change its value, as shown above. If that doesn’t work, you can delete the key and the value. Again, make a backup and restart the computer in safe mode before continuing. And always note the changes (where and what) you make.

To create the new folder, right-click the 0 folder under Flighting in the Registry Editor, select New Key and name it WhiteSearchBox.

Finish the task

The taskbar is one of the busiest and most interactive areas on any Windows 10 computer, after the Start menu. This is why it can be frustrating when the taskbar suddenly turns white. It’s like you’re blinded by the light, at least that’s how I felt when troubleshooting this particular error. Fortunately, there are simple ways to reduce it to a darker shade.

Another way to solve the problem is to completely hide the taskbar. It is not a complete solution because the taskbar is always white, but at least you will not mind. Did you find another way to resolve this error? If so, share it with us in the comments section below.
