Top 7 Ways to Fix Gmail Notifications Not Working in Chrome on Windows 10

Notifications make it easy to update, especially the messaging app. You no longer need to repeatedly open your email and refresh it. With notifications, you will be notified of a new email from services like Outlook, Gmail, etc., even when you are doing something else on your computer. Unfortunately, Gmail notifications don’t work for some users on Windows 10 PC. If you are one of them, here are 7 ways to fix Gmail notification problem.

To receive Gmail notifications from Chrome browser on your Windows 10 PC, you need to enable notifications in three places: Gmail website settings, Chrome browser, and Windows 10 settings. So even if one of the settings is disabled or having problems, you will not receive notifications for new emails.
Let’s see 7 Ways to Fix Gmail Notifications Not Working on Windows 10 Computer.
1. Keep the Gmail tab open
In Gmail’s mobile apps, you receive notifications for new emails, even when the Gmail app is not in the foreground. This is not how Gmail notifications work on the PC. Basically, you have to keep the Gmail tab open to receive notifications for new emails. So if Gmail isn’t open in any of your browser tabs, you won’t get any notifications. Therefore, the first solution is to keep the Gmail tab open.
Note: If more than one Google Account is added in Chrome, you will receive notifications from all of them as long as at least one Gmail tab is open.
If you think keeping the Gmail tab open is taking up space in the browser tab panel, you need to pin the tab. To do this, right-click on the Gmail tab and select Pin.

3. Enable notifications on the Gmail website
For Gmail notifications to work, you must enable the notification setting on the Gmail website. Here are the steps for that.
Step 1: Launch Chrome and open gmail.com. Log in with your account.
2nd step: Click the Settings gear icon at the top of Gmail and select Show all settings.

Step 3: Under the General tab, scroll down and you will see desktop notifications. Turn on the toggle next to the “New email notifications enabled” option. Scroll down and click Save Changes at the bottom.

Step 4: Follow steps 2 and 3 again. Click on the “Click here to turn on desktop notifications for Gmail” link present next to desktop notifications under the General tab. If you don’t see the link, go to Method 4 to allow Gmail notifications in Chrome.

A pop-up will open asking if you want to receive notifications from Gmail. Tap Allow.

4. Allow Gmail to send notifications in Chrome
Next, you need to make sure that Gmail has the necessary permissions to send notifications in Chrome. To do this, open the Gmail tab in your browser and click on the Lock icon present on the left side of the address bar. If you see the Notifications option, make sure it shows Allow next to it. If it displays Default or Do not allow, go to Allow.

If you don’t see the Notifications option, click Site Settings.

You will be taken to the Chrome settings for Gmail where you see different permissions. Find notifications and select Allow in the box next to it.

Point: You should also use the Reset Permissions and Clear Data buttons. After that, all Gmail permissions of your Chrome browser will be reset.
