There are many factors that could be responsible, but it is difficult to pinpoint which ones. You can start troubleshooting with the most common solutions and then move on to the more difficult ones.

1. Check data usage

iOS allows you to check personal hotspot data usage on iPhone. It will give you a detailed breakdown of the data consumed by each connected device.

You may have limited monthly data to consume from your carrier. You can check the personal hotspot data usage in the Settings> Mobile data menu.

Find a personal hotspot in the Mobile data menu and check the device for failure. If necessary, purchase an additional data plan from your local operator.

2. Disable low data mode

You may have enabled Low Data Mode toggle in settings if you have a tight data plan. As the name suggests, Low Data mode helps reduce mobile data usage. iOS will turn off background tasks like automatic updates, background tasks, hotspot, and more when it’s on.

You can turn off Low Data mode from the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on iPhone.

2nd step: Go to Mobile data and select your primary SIM card.

Step 3: Deactivate Low Data mode in the menu.

3. Reconnect the connection to the access point

On your Mac or PC, you can have your system “forget” the current access point of the connected iPhone and try to reconnect it with a password.

Before connecting to the iPhone hotspot, you can go to Settings> Personal hotspot and check your iPhone hotspot password. In the same menu, you can change the password of your iPhone hotspot.

4. Keep the personal hotspot screen on

If you are using a beta version of iOS, we suggest you leave the screen showing the hotspot option active. Sometimes the same works wonders when the iPhone hotspot is used with PC or Mac.

This method may consume more battery because the screen is always on. We recommend that you connect to a power source during the process.

5. Disable low power mode

When you enable low power mode from settings or control center to save battery, it also disconnects the access point. So you may need to turn off low power mode to get your job done. Low power mode temporarily reduces background activities like downloads and mail retrieval until you can fully charge your phone. This background activity includes the connection to the personal hotspot, the download process, etc.

Keeping your iPhone in low power mode will cause frequent disconnection of the hotspot on the device.

Step 1: Go to the Settings app on iPhone.

2nd step: Open the General menu. Scroll down to Reset at the bottom.

2nd step: Go to the General menu.

Step 3: Select About.
