Notifications are an integral part of our daily use of smartphones. They are almost like a bridge that connects us to our favorite apps. Without them, we don’t know how many important calls, emails and messages we would miss. Unfortunately, this is exactly what has happened to many iPhone users.
Whether the notification problem on iPhone is limited to a particular app or the entire system, we have compiled a list of possible solutions to fix iPhone notification issues for good. So let’s get started.
1. Restart the iPhone
Although we are sure sometimes a minor software glitch can be the reason why your iPhone is not receiving notifications. Fortunately, these issues are often fixed by simply restarting the iPhone. To do this, hold down the power button and use the slider to turn it off. Wait a minute or two, then turn your iPhone back on.
2. Disable focus mode
As the name suggests, Focus Mode (formerly known as Do Not Disturb Mode) is a useful feature on iPhone that silences your iPhone and lets you focus on a specific activity. When enabled, it does not allow your iPhone to alert you of calls and notifications you receive. So you can make sure that you haven’t turned on Focus mode by accident.
To turn off focus mode, swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to display the Control Center. Now click on the crescent moon icon to turn it off.
3. Deactivate programmed focus mode
In addition to disabling Focus mode, you should also make sure that it is not set to be enabled in time.
To do this, open the Settings app and go to Focus. Now tap on the Do Not Disturb option.
Scroll down to the Automatically activate section. Disable all defined automatic triggers. Repeat this process for the rest of your Focus profiles.
4. Disable notification summary
With iOS 15, Apple made a lot of changes in the way you handle notifications on the iPhone. And the notification summary is one of those features. When enabled, it may prevent some apps from sending notifications immediately.
To turn off notification summary, open Settings on your iPhone and go to Notifications. Now go to Schedule Summary and turn it off.
5. Check the app notification settings
If the notification problem on your iPhone is limited to just one or two apps, you can try checking the notification preferences for the app in question. Here’s how.
Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Scroll down to locate the app for which notifications are not working.
2nd step: Now tap on the Notifications option and turn on the switch next to Allow notifications if you haven’t already.
Additionally, make sure the app is allowed to send alerts immediately and display them through the lock screen, action center, and banners.
6. Update the application
If an app can’t send notifications, you need to check for app updates. You may be using an older version of the app that is no longer compatible with your iPhone or has internal bugs. So go ahead and update the app to see if that helps resolve the notification issue.
7. Update iOS
If you haven’t updated your iPhone in a while, now is the time to do so. Sometimes apps that are not compatible with the iOS version you are on may not send notifications on iPhone. So, you can try to update your iPhone to the latest version available.
8. Reset your iPhone
If all else fails, you may want to consider resetting your iPhone. Consider this as the last resort as this will reset all of your iPhone’s settings preferences to their default values. This will not delete any of your files or data, as long as you choose the right option and make a backup before trying it.
To reset your iPhone, open the Settings app. Go to General and tap on Reset.
Then choose Reset All Settings and iPhone will ask you to enter the password. After that, your iPhone will reset.
If the problem persists, you can try erasing all data from your iPhone while resetting it to factory settings. This should only happen in extremely rare situations. If you decide to go for this option, remember to back up your data first.
