WhatsApp has become a reliable messaging app to connect with your contacts. You can also create and send your avatars to your WhatsApp contacts as a fun way to express yourself. With Picture in Picture, you can attend video calls on WhatsApp while using other apps on your iPhone.
This is what some users complain about not doing. If WhatsApp Picture-in-Picture is not working on your iPhone, here are some solutions to help you fix it quickly.
1. Check picture-in-picture settings
To start with, you need to check if the Picture in Picture feature is enabled for your iPhone. This feature was introduced for iPhones with the release of iOS 15. Once the feature is enabled, it will work for all apps that support it, including WhatsApp. Here is how to check the same.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2nd step: Scroll down and tap General.
Step 3: Tap Picture in Picture.
Step 4: Tap the toggle next to “Start PiP automatically” to enable the feature.
Step 5: Close the Settings app and relaunch WhatsApp to check if the issue is resolved.
2. Force quit and relaunch WhatsApp
If the feature still doesn’t work in WhatsApp, you can force quit and relaunch WhatsApp to give it a fresh start. This will reload all of your chats and may make the Picture in Picture feature work.
Step 1: On your iPhone’s home screen, swipe up and hold to show app windows in the background.
2nd step: Swipe right to search for WhatsApp. Then swipe up to force quit the app.
Step 3: Relaunch WhatsApp and check if the issue is resolved.
Whenever an app stops working properly, you can force quit it and relaunch it.
3. Restart your iPhone
Many users report that restarting their iPhone helps fix app issues. If Picture in Picture still not working in WhatsApp, you can restart your iPhone and check if that fixes the problem.
For iPhone X and above, press the power button and volume down button. Then swipe right to turn off your iPhone.
For iPhone SE 2nd and 3rd generation, iPhone 7 or lower, press and hold the side button to power off your device.
For iPhone SE 1st generation, press and hold the power button at the top to turn off your device.
After restarting your iPhone, relaunch WhatsApp and check if the issue is resolved.
4. Update WhatsApp
WhatsApp has introduced Picture in Picture with app v23.3.77 for iPhone users. So, if the feature is still not working for you then we suggest you update the version of WhatsApp on your iPhone and check if the problem is fixed.
Step 1: Open the App Store on your iPhone.
2nd step: Tap the profile icon in the top right corner.

5. Update iOS
If none of the solutions work, the last resort is to update the iOS version, if you have delayed pending updates. Since Picture in Picture is a built-in system feature on your iPhone, the older version of iOS won’t let it work smoothly. Here is how to check for iOS update.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2nd step: Scroll down and tap General.
Step 3: Tap Software Update.
Step 4: If an update is available, download and install it on your iPhone.
Step 5: After installing the update, relaunch WhatsApp and check if the issue is resolved.
Multitasking made easy
The Picture in Picture feature allows you to multitask while answering WhatsApp video calls. Speaking of video calls, sometimes when you want to start a video call with a single contact or a group, you get no response from the other side. Would it be good to inform your contacts before starting a video call? Well, WhatsApp lets you create and send video call link to your interlocutor. This will notify your contacts and prepare them to attend your video call.
