Do you accidentally open the lock screen edit mode after iOS 16 update? The wallpaper customization menu triggers too easily when you touch the screen? Here’s what you can do to fix it!
Accidental lock screen edit menu?
This inconvenience was reported by Mady:
“I accidentally trigger this edit lock screen menu. Is there an option to block it?”
We don’t find the hold gesture to be overly responsive and didn’t encounter any accidental triggers from the Customize Wallpaper screen. However, we found some complaints on Reddit:
“Is there a way to avoid this? Turn it off? I have mobility issues in my hands and it comes up a lot and I can’t get rid of it.
Apparently, iPhone users with mobility issues, which require more time between taps, are likely to accidentally trigger the Customize Wallpaper screen.
How to Prevent Accidental Lock Screen Edit Menu Triggers
The lock screen edit menu can be accidentally triggered when the user swipes up to unlock! If the swipe gesture is made to slow down, due to motor issues, the interaction is perceived as a touch and hold gesture by iOS 16!
iOS 16 does not provide an option to block or disable the Customize Wallpaper menu on the lock screen. However, you can apply the following workaround:
- 1. Open Settings and scroll to Accessibility.
- 2. Press on To touchbelow Physics and motor section.
- 3. Opt for Tap Hosting and activate them.
- 4. Enable Wait Duration and increase the amount of time you have to touch the screen before a touch is recognized.
Do: Try to double the time of 0.2s first and that’s it. If it still happens, you can go back and increase even more.
Inconvenience: This will affect all taps on your iPhone, meaning you have to tap longer each time for a tap to register!
