If you’ve used Disk Cleanup to free up space on your device, then see a Low disk space error, your Temp folder may quickly fill up with application files (.appx) used by the Microsoft Store. In today’s release, we’ll walk you through the steps to clear the Temp folder from .appx files so you can regain storage on your Windows 10 computer.
A temporary directory or temporary folder is a directory on a storage medium, such as a hard drive, used to store temporary files. Generally, this directory is named TEMP and may contain files ending in .tmp.
AppX is the application distribution file format. Files with a APPX extension are basically an application package ready for distribution and installation.
Traditional computer applications have relied on clunky installers called wizards to sort and configure program components, but this paradigm does not work well on multiple mobile platforms. The AppX approach is particularly effective for distributing applications adapted to several devices, including PCs, tablets and smartphones.
