Old DVDs are lying around your house and you would like to extract audio from these discs, but the right tools are not in your possession. The question then is: what do we do in a situation like this? Really simple. Just download DVDtoHP and be on your happy path.
The idea behind DVDtoHP is to extract audio from music DVDs without any loss of quality. Now, we must point out that music DVDs tend to have around six audio channels, but for some reason, several tools are trying to mix the channels in the unreliable two-channel recording.
You see, in many cases, two-channel recording produces sound effects that shouldn't be in the original audio. When using DVDtoHP to extract content, this does not pose any of the problems we mentioned, and this is one of the main reasons why we like it so much.
How to extract audio from DVD
Ripping audio from your old DVDs is not impossible as there are a ton of tools out there. However, DVDtoHP is one of the best in our eyes.
1) The user interface
Whatever your skill in using a computer, we doubt that the user interface here will make your head scratch. You see, everything is available in one window, therefore there is no need to do a ton of clicks to get what they want.
There are four tabs at the top, and we'll discuss what they do and whether or not they're worth your time.
2) Convert to binaural
Under this tab, which is the first, users will have the option to convert to headphone audio or speaker audio. It all depends on what you need, so make sure you know this before choosing one of the two options.
In addition, you can select an HRTF file or create an HRTF name. Otherwise, just leave the default name and finish it.
3) Convert with Sofalizer
OK, so if you didn't know, the Sofalizer is a plugin for music tools, so if you have one on your system that supports DVDtoHP, then you're off to a good start. Just be sure to select the correct radius and type, which is either Freg or Time.
Also, be sure to locate and select your sofa file in the box below, as this is very important.
4) Extract audio from DVD
When it comes to ripping audio from a DVD, this is the section you will need to select right away. It is very simple. Just click the Extract Audio From DVD button, and this should open a new window from which you need to work.
Finally, the next step is to select the DVD card and then move on from there to finish the job.
