Using Google Discover settings, you can hide a particular story from your feed or even permanently block those topics. The addition of a new subject is also possible. Except that, Google Discover Feeds also offers the possibility of increasing or decreasing the frequency of publications on a particular topic. Let's see how all of this could be done.
Customizing Google Discover feeds
There are two ways to access Google Discover Feeds. If you have an Android operating system (Pixel devices) or an Android One operating system, you can simply swipe your finger on your home screen to access these maps. However, other manufacturers such as OnePlus, Xiaomi, etc. have their own set of default cards at this location. If your device enters this last category, there is another option for you. All you have to do is open the Google App on your device. By default, you should be brought to Discover section. Otherwise, simply tap the option with the same name. Once you reach the Google Discover Feeds section, follow the sections below to customize it to your needs.
Management of existing maps
To manage existing Google Discover feeds, simply tap the three vertical dots next to the desired news feed. Now you can do the following with these specific cards:
- Hide this story: This will hide this particular story. this will not affect any other post from the same publisher.
- Not interested in
: This will hide all posts from your Google Discover feeds containing this keyword. It does not matter the publisher or the type of content. - Do not show the stories of
As the name suggests, selecting this option will block all publications from this publisher. - If you select a sports card, you will also be able to Hide spoilers for
. If you select the same thing, Google will not show any live or past scores for that particular team. Although you can always receive news about this team. You can also prevent Google from displaying sports updates. Press on Stop displaying sports updates to enable this feature.
Apart from that, you can even increase or decrease the frequency of all topics in Google Discover Feeds. Go to the map that contains the subject you are interested in and press the rocker at the bottom right. You can now choose More or less according to your preferences.
Adding a new map to Google Discover Feeds
If you use Google App, go to More > Interests. Now select the Your interest section and scroll down. Just tap the plus sign to add the desired topic to Google Discover Feeds. However, if you use Google Feeds directly from your home screen, just tap the three vertical dots located at the bottom right of "all" post. Then press the Manage the interest menu option that appears. The procedure is now the same as mentioned above.
Unsubscribe or hide an existing map
To stop following an existing map, go to Your interests section and simply uncheck the topic for which you no longer want to view the publications. You will now be unsubscribed from these topics. However, you can even hide these topics in Google Discover Feeds for good. To do this, simply press the hidden icon present on the left of Add a topic button. You can do the same thing with Suggested topics as well as. Under the same section, scroll down to the menu of suggested topics. From there, simply tap the hide icon to the left of the Add Subject button. If you want to hide your photos and videos in a private storage location, you should try Photogaurd app.
To view all your hidden topics or view them, go to Interests section, now press the Hidden option. All hidden topics will now be present here. To view any topic in your Google Discover feeds, press the mouse button. minus sign next to the desired subject. You will begin to receive new publications on these topics.
Block offensive searches
You can even prevent shocking, violent or inappropriate content from appearing in Google Discover Feeds, go to the Google app and press. More option. Then go to Settings > General > Switch on Secure search functionality.
However, if you want to disable Discover feeds for good, go to More > Settings > General and switch the switch next to Discover. You will not receive any more stories in the home tab of the app.
