When creating a presentation for the school or office, you may need to merge two shapes in Microsoft PowerPoint. Suppose you are trying to display a comparison in your PowerPoint presentation and need to do it visually. Shapes and graphics are handy in these cases. You can combine two or more shapes to create a new one and display a comparison or something else in a different way.
Merge two shapes in Microsoft PowerPoint
To merge two or more shapes into PowerPoint slides, you can use the Combine, Union, Intersection, Subtract, etc. options. to create a new shape. Follow these steps-
- Open a slide where you want to display the combined shape.
- Go to the Insert tab.
- Expand the Shapes menu and add the two shapes.
- Place them as needed.
- Select both shapes and go to the Shape Format tab.
- Click the Merge Shapes button.
- Select Combine from the list.
At the start, you need to open a slide in which you want to display the combined form of your presentation. After that, you need to insert two shapes that you want to merge. To do this, go to Insert tab, expand the Shapes and select two or more shapes you want to combine.
Now you have to place them correctly. You must do this before combining, and one form must overlap another.
Once finished, select the two shapes and access the Shape format tongue.
Here you can find an option called Merge shapes in the Insert shapes section. Expand the list and select Combine.
You should see the result immediately.
For your information, there are more options than Combine. For example, you can find these-
- union
- Fragment
- Cut
- To subtract
All results are visible in the following image-
As mentioned earlier, you can combine more than two forms. It is possible to combine the third form later and at the same time. However, you cannot use other options (for example, Intersection, Union, etc.) for more than two shapes.
In addition, if you wish, you can change the fill color and the outline after and before combining them. However, if you want to display two different colors for different shapes, you must choose it before merging.
I hope it helps.
