UC Mini and Opera Mini are two of the most popular "mini" browsers for Android devices. They are the reduced versions of their counterparts, namely. UC Web and Opera browser. Nowadays, most devices have huge amounts of storage space, but there is a niche segment of users that still have a device with less than adequate storage. For these devices, these mini-navigators are a blessing. Our discussion between UC Mini and Opera Mini will try to highlight the difference between the two browsers.
But who to choose from? Well, in this guide we will do an in-depth analysis of UC Mini and Opera Mini this will help you decide which one to download. Without further ado, let's start. In addition, do not forget to check out the best lightweight Android browsers with flash support.
UC Mini vs Opera Mini: Permissions and Storage
Before going directly to the features they provide, let's first look at the elephant in the room. With regard to the application permissions, both have a long list of permissions. Fortunately, you can control all this in Settings > Apps and notifications > Name of the application > permissions
Regarding storage size, on the Play Store list, Opera Mini is shown having a size of 9.9 MB while UC Mini stands at a huge 44 MB. Not only does it take 4 times more disk space than Opera, but its original version, that is the UC web browser, is itself around 49 Mo. The Mini Mini version of UC Mini therefore makes no sense, at least in this case.
Home screen
That's where my hate for UC Mini has quadrupled. Your home screen will end up with a long list of adult content. This is not based on any of your searches, but the browser will send it to you forcibly. Fortunately, you have the option to turn it off completely. To do this, tap the hamburger menu at the bottom and tap Settings.
Go to New UC Settings > Display of new UC > Turn it off. Now you will get a cleaner home screen, much better than the default one. You can still get the The most visited cards. To disable even this, tap Manage cards and disable the The most visited switch.
Regarding Opera Mini, it displays many types of feed suggestions. However, the amount of adult content is relatively lower. Similar to UC Mini, Opera Mini also offers the option to disable all these suggestions. To do this, press the Opera icon> settings> Contents of the start page > Turn off News seesaw. Rather than turning it off completely, you can even modify these cards according to your interests. The option for the same thing is present under the News option tongue.

UC Mini vs. Opera Mini: Data Saver
Both claim to have aggressive data saver capabilities. In the case of Opera Mini, you have the choice between: High, extreme or Automatic data savings settings. However, Data Saver of UC Mini will not work in case of WiFi. Since most of you may have unlimited Wi-Fi plans and the lack of data saver may not be a problem. But think that way. Since it does not support WiFi data saver features, it will not work even in the case of Hotspot. So, if you end up borrowing data from your friend, consider using the Opera browser.
Advertising Blocker
I had a pretty odd experience with Opera Mini, it's the least we can say. The browser could not even block a single ad during my test. After further investigation, I found the Acceptable ads to be activated. Even turning it off, the ads were still present. So, anyway, it was not possible to block ads in my case. The results should not be generalized as such, and you could get a completely different result. In the case of UC Mini, the company did a great job and was able to block all kinds of ads on all websites (see image above for comparison).
UC Mini vs Opera Mini: Night Mode
Another feature, another strange result of Opera. In the case of Night mode, the browser simply reduces the brightness and allows you to configure a screen overlay with a warm yellow tint. Although it does reduce eye strain quite well, it is not at all the night mode we planned. In the case of UC Mini, you get what you asked for. It makes all the background dark with the text in white.
Other features
Let's take a look at some of the other useful features that these two browsers have to offer. Starting with UC Mini Navigatorit consists of a Tools section that comes with the following features to choose from:
- Speed mode: You pretend to speed up your browsing by displaying the lightened and compressed version of the web pages.
- QR Code: Built-in QR code scanner.
- Incognito: Provides the ability to navigate in Incognito mode. This will not save your browsing history, cookies and cache.
- Save page: Save the currently open website.
- Full screen: browse websites in full-screen mode, hiding the top and bottom bars.
On the other hand, these are the features inside the Opera Mini Browser:
- File sharing: It allows you to send and receive files by scanning the generated QR code.
- Layout of the application: Toggle between Phone and User interface tab to effectively navigate the web.
- Theme: Provides the ability to theme your browser by allowing you to choose from a variety of colors.
