However, there is one thing to keep in mind. This update is not yet available in the stable version which you can easily download from Play Store. To try out this feature, you will need to download it from a third-party website. Or there is also another method that requires a few extra steps, but in doing so, you can download the APK directly from the Play Store itself. We will examine these two methods as well as the steps to activate the dark mode in WhatsApp Beta. On that note, also take a look at 25 WhatsApp tips and tricks for using WhatsApp like a pro.
WhatsApp dark mode making its way to beta
WhatsApp Dark Mode has made its way to version 2.20.13 beta. As already mentioned, there are two methods to download this version. The first is to load the APK laterally from the APKMirror website. Once the file is downloaded, you will also need to activate the installation from unknown sources. For this, a pop-up window will appear which will take you to the required authorization screen. Simply activate Allow from this source to toggle. Then go back and complete the installation process.
However, if you don't want to download the app from a third-party website, there is another method, albeit slightly longer. First of all, you will have to become a beta tester by registering on the site. Now wait a few minutes and you will receive an update from Play store. Or you can also update the app manually from the store. Once done, follow the instructions below to activate the dark mode in WhatsApp Beta.

Steps to follow
- Open WhatsApp on your Android device.
- Press the overflow icon located at the top right.
- Go to settings > cats and press Theme under the Pin up section.
- Finally, choose Dark in the menu.
This is it. You have correctly activated the dark mode in WhatsApp Beta. Although it doesn't do full justice to the AMOLED screen as it looks more like a dark blue tint than full black than Instagram has to offer. But still, it's a welcome change, nonetheless. Let's just hope it will make it to the stable version soon.
