Since SMBv1 has been disabled by default now in Windows 10, programs and apps that depend on it would run into problems. When trying to map the network share involving such an application, you may encounter the error:
You cannot connect to the file share because it is not secure. This sharing requires the outdated SMB1 protocol, which is not secure and could expose your system to attack..
You cannot connect to file sharing as it is not secure
The SMBv1 protocol is a very obsolete protocol. It is notorious because it authorizes many ransomware in the system. After the Wannacry ransomware attack, users were encouraged to disable the SMBv1 protocol on their system. When a series of these attacks were repeated, Microsoft finally disabled the SMBv1 protocol in all systems by default.
So if you are running a system on Windows 10 v1709 or later or if you have disabled SMBv1, you will encounter this error. As is obvious, the solution to this problem is to enable the SMBv1 protocol. However, you need to understand the risk involved. A wise suggestion would be to temporarily activate the protocol and deactivate it after your work is done.
The procedure to activate the SMBv1 protocol as follows:
1) Press Win + R to open the Run window and tap the control panel. Press Enter to open the Control panel.
2) Click on programs.

6) Hitting D & #39; agreement to save the settings and restart your system.
Now try to map the network share and you will be able to do it successfully. Once the job is finished, you must disable the SMBv1 protocol for security reasons.
