NVIDIA Display settings are not available in Windows 10

When it comes to selecting a GPU or graphics card for our system, the first option we choose is NVIDIA. It is popular because of its functionality and support. Now if you are using a system with a NVIDIA GPU, you may encounter errors. Today we will see how to resolve the error NVIDIA display settings are not available.

There may be several reasons behind this error, but one of the most likely problems could be that the monitor is not connected to the GPU. In short, if you are using a monitor that is not connected to the GPU, the error will appear. Another reason could be that the monitor is connected to the wrong port.

Let’s just say the port you are using is correct and the monitor is also good, you may need to follow the methods below. The methods below are proven troubleshooting procedures.

NVIDIA display settings are not available

Before you start, make sure to restore the settings in the system files and registers if a method doesn’t work for you. Now, there can be lots of reasons why you get such an error. Here are the methods you should try:

  1. Check the screen connection
  2. Restart NVIDIA services
  3. Update graphics card drivers
  4. Uninstall and reinstall NVIDIA drivers

To ensure that the applied changes work, restart your system after completing each method.

1]Check the screen connection

The most important thing is to check if the screen of your system is correctly connected. Check the condition of the cable, look for any kind of cuts and cracks. Especially check if the cable is connected to the GPU output port. Many times when someone buys a new system, the most basic mistake they make is to connect the screen to the wrong port.

2]Restart NVIDIA services

If you are a computer connoisseur, you may know what this method is. Windows 10 runs on multiple services, and those services are the reason your apps, as well as your operating system, are running. Disabling any service without your knowledge can cause your system to operate abnormally.

Similar to system services, NVIDIA also works on certain services and it is necessary that these services work. Follow the steps below and make sure these services work.

hurry To win + R keys. When Run appears, type services.msc and press Enter.

run_services_shortcut

Find the list of services, search for:

  • NVIDIA Display Container LS
  • NVIDIA LocalSystem container and
  • NVIDIA NetworkService container.

nvidia_drivers_services

Start from NVIDIA Display Container LS, right click on the service and click on Properties.

nvidia_display_service_service

in the General search tab Startup type and Service status. The first must be set to Automatic and the lateral to Operation.

If the startup type is set to disabled or Manual then set to Automatic from the drop-down list.

nvidia_diplay_container_properties

If the service status is set to Stopped then just click Start and it will work.

Repeat steps 3, 4, 5 and 6 to NVIDIA LocalSystem container a service.

Select now NVIDIA NetworkService container and perform steps 3 and 4.

The basic purpose of this service is to download updates and install them automatically as well as stay connected to Nvidia’s GPU network. Here you can perform steps 5 and 6. Or you can set the startup type to Manual and Stop the service if you do not have an active connection.

Please ensure that you do not make unnecessary changes to other settings or services. This may cause your computer to operate abnormally or may not operate it at all.

By now, the error should have disappeared and you may be able to use the system with the NVIDIA display settings.

3]Update graphics card drivers

In most scenarios, the reason for the error is corrupt, outdated, or incompatible drivers. These elements prevent Windows from detecting or running the hardware. Another reason that could be causing the errors could be installing third-party applications.

Sometimes these applications interfere with the display drivers and cause them to stop working. The type of errors you get may display different error messages, but the culprit can only be one. In this case, the only method to follow is to update the graphics card drivers.

To update the graphics card drivers, open the Start menu, type GeForce experience. Open the NVIDIA GeForce Experience application.

start_nvidia_geforce_experience

Click on Conductors tongue.

Now click on Check for updates. If drivers are available, download them.
