see new Login item added and Background elements added notifications on Mac since updating to macOS Ventura? These are new alerts that notify when newly installed software has been set to open automatically when you start your computer and given permission to run in the background!
Login Item Added Notification
The alert slides in from the right edge of the screen and informs you that:
“[app name]” will open automatically when you log in. You can manage this in the Login Items settings.

There’s another similar alert that notifies you when one or more apps or services have been granted permission to run in the background on your Mac:
“[service name] added items that can run in the background. You can manage this in the Login Items settings.
How to Delete Login Items on Mac
If you don’t want the specific application to run on startup, you need to do the following:
- 1. Open System Parametersof DockGoing through Spotlight Search or with the options + F2 shortcut.
- 2. Click Generalin the left sidebar and click Connection elements.
- 3. Click the [application name] you want to delete and use the ‘-‘ icon.
How to Restrict Background Activity on Mac
In the same settings menu, you can also change the app or service allowed to run in the background on your computer.
The Allow in background The section displays the services that were granted this permission during installation.
If you disagree or reconsider, we rock it next to each app to limit background activity.
