If you use the Firefox browser and want to prevent other users from using certain settings, features, options, etc., you can install a Firefox add-on called Business Rules Builder. It will leave you temporarily disable or block Firefox settings by generating a policy that prevents various features of the Firefox browser.
Suppose you give your computer to your child for a while and you do not want to allow him to disable or uninstall the add-ons. You can prevent your child from opening the corresponding page and thus, he / she will not be able to make changes. Likewise, you can apply different strategies on different computers to different places, such as school, home, office, and so on.
Enterprise Policy Generator for Firefox
The Enterprise Policy Engine add-on allows administrators to configure Firefox through a configuration file. To create a policy, you must follow these steps.
- Install the Business Strategy Builder
- Create a policy using the add-on
- Place the .json file in the installation directory
- Restart the Firefox browser.
Open the Firefox browser and install the Business Rules Builder add-on the official deposit. After installing it, you can find a new icon next to the address, ss bar. If you click on this icon, you open a window in which all options are present.
You can choose what you want to block or disable.
To select, check the desired box. If you're done with the selections, you have to click the button Generate policies button.
You will find the policy on your screen.
You must now download the .json file by clicking on the button download policies.json button.
After saving the file, open the Firefox installation directory that will usually be on that path.

in the Firefox folder, you must create a subfolder and name it as follows: Distribution. Then paste it policies.json file in this "distribution" folder.
After that, restart your browser to make the change.
Example 1 – Disable Private Browsing Mode
Suppose you want to disable your browser's private browsing mode. To do this, open the Enterprise Policy Generator panel and check the box to indicate Disable incognito mode under the Disable features section. Then you have to click on the Generator policies button, save the .json file, move it to the Distribution folder, and restart your browser. After rebooting, you can not find the New private window option on the menu. Check the next image where "New Private Windows" is no longer visible.
Even if you press Ctrl + Shift + P, the private mode is not open.
Example 2 – Set and lock the download directory
Suppose you want to set a specific folder as the default download directory and lock it so others can not edit it. At this point, you must check the box next to Set and lock the download directory and enter a directory that you want to set by default.
Then follow the same steps to apply the change.
Save and import the configuration
If you need to change the filters frequently, you can save a set of configurations and load them at any time. To do this, you must select all the strategies you want to apply, click Generate policies, and save the configuration buttons accordingly. After clicking this button, you will be asked to enter a name.
Do this and click on the Save configuration option. If you want to get a particular set of configurations, you can click the button loading the configuration button, and select something from the list. Then you must follow the same steps to apply the filters.
