In iOS 16, you can finally delete duplicate photos on iPhone natively. This new feature is able to automatically detect duplicate images in the Pictures app, group them into a separate album and allow you to merge them individually or as a group.

Find duplicate images

  • 1. You must first open the Photos app and press the Albums tongue.
  • 2. So, scroll down to utilities section.
  • 3. Tap Duplicates and you will find all cloned images available in the CameraRoll.

  • 4. Discover duplicate content. You can Merge individually or use the Select option (upper right corner) for Select all duplicates and Merge them with a single tap.
  • Do: When you select all duplicates, you also have the option to Wipe off their. This will delete all instances, without keeping a single one. When merging, you will only remove duplicates, triplicates while only one variation is saved.

    iOS 16 automatically lists duplicate photos and videos filtered by creation date.

    If you want to merge cloned videos only, you can do the following:

    • Press the three dots icon in the upper right corner.
    • Select the Filtered Option.
    • Go back and press Select -> Select All and merge duplicate videos!

    Point: If you merge duplicate photos and. videos, you’ll free up storage space on your iPhone without sacrificing any data!

    Important: Merged photos and videos remain available for 30 days in the Recently Deleted album, and you can recover them if the Duplicates feature swiped and deleted photos that weren’t actually duplicates.
