the Xbox App on Windows 10 allows you to do a lot of things under Windows, especially if you have the console. I love to stream it on my PC when I'm lazy enough to go to the console. But if you are having trouble connecting to the Xbox app, there is no fun. The reasons are many and we explain here how to solve the problem of connection to the Xbox application.

Troubleshoot Xbox App Connection Issues

If you can not sign in to your Xbox account, there may be many reasons. It depends on the type of problem you are facing. So here are some common scenarios and their solutions-

  1. Connection problem
  2. Clear the application cache
  3. Restart Xbox Services
  4. Set the time to change automatically
  5. Delete the Microsoft account.

Any method you follow will not drop your Microsoft account or Gamertag contact information. They are stored in the cloud and are safe there.

1) Connection problem

This is the first check you need to perform. If you have recently changed your password, it may prevent you from signing in to the Xbox application. I am sure that if it is a password problem, you will be prompted to report it. The only choice you have is to enter the correct password or reset it if you have forgotten it.

2) Clear the application cache

If you do not get a clear message and it stays stuck, you have to clear the application's cache. There are two ways to do it. In either case, you will need to reconnect.

Manually remove Xbox Live Cache

  • In the prompt, type the following and press the Enter key.
  • % userprofile% AppData Local Microsoft XboxLive
  • Locate AuthStateCache.dat and delete it. If there is another folder, delete it as well.
  • Restart the Xbox app and log in

Delete Windows Settings:

  • Open Windows Settings (Win + I)
  • Go to Applications> Applications and Features.
  • Locate Xbox Live App and click Advanced Options that appear when you select it.
  • Click on reset button
  • Launch the application and log in

3) Restart the Xbox services

Like any other application, the Xbox runs its own set of services. If that's a simple problem, it could be solved by restarting the services once.

Restart Xbox Live Services

  • Type services.msc in the prompt, and then press Enter.
  • There are currently four services that you can choose to restart.
    • Xbox Accessory Management Services
    • Xbox Live Authentication Manager
    • Xbox Live Game Save
    • Xbox Live Network Service.
  • Right-click on any of them and then choose to reboot.

4) Set the time to change automatically

Set the time and zone to update automatically

If you have, or software has changed the time settings to manual, and that its execution is late, you will not be able to use the Xbox application and many other applications.

  • Click the Start button> Settings> Time and Language.
  • Under Date and Time, make sure that the Set Time automatically setting is turned on.
  • You can also enable the time zone to adjust automatically. If you moved a region, this may be the cause of the problem.

5) Remove the Microsoft account

The last option is to remove the account associated with the Xbox from Windows 10. It is possible to use multiple Microsoft accounts, and if you use another, everything is fine. If it's the only account, it's not possible to delete it unless you convert it to a local account, and then re-account for it.

If you use two accounts, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings> Accounts
  • Find the Microsoft account that you used to sign in to the Xbox application and select Remove.
  • Then launch the Xbox application and log in with the Microsoft account you just removed.
