1]Switch to new adaptive meeting layouts and live captions in Google Meet
Google Meet automatically changes the layout of a video meeting to display the most active content and participants. If necessary, you can switch to a different layout if you wish.
By default, Google Meet offers 4 options. These included-
- Auto – Allows Google Meet to choose the layout for you.
- Tiled – As the name suggests, switches to a tiled interface with 4 video streams of equal size when there is no presentation. If you are in presentation mode, then it fills the window with up to 3 participants on the side.
- Projector – Focuses the presentation on the active speaker or the pinned stream fills the window.
- Lateral bar – Makes the active speaker or presentation visible with additional participants on the side.
To change the layout, point the mouse cursor in the lower right corner of the Meet screen, click on ‘More“, Then select”Change the layout“
In the Edit Presentation area, select the presentation you want to use on your computer.
2]Share your screen in Google Meet
If you want to give a more interactive and engaging presentation, you can use Google Meet to present your entire screen or a specific window during a meeting to share documents, presentations or spreadsheets. Here’s how!
In the lower right corner, select “Present now“
Select your entire screen, window, or Chrome tab. If you choose the last option (Presentation of a Chrome tab), Google Meet will share the sound of this tab by default.
You can change the source at the bottom of your screen to present a different tab.
Once done, select the content you want to share and click on “Share’, As shown in the image above.
If someone presents, confirm that you want to present instead.
3]Change video resolution
At the bottom of your Google Meet screen, click “More options“(Visible in the form of 3 vertical points) and choose”Settings“
In the window that appears on your computer screen, go to “VideoThe “tab.
Here, choose a setting that you want to change or modify. The following parameters are available –
- Camera – Select your camera. If your camera works, to the right of Video, you will see your video stream.
- Send resolution – The image quality is visible to you by the other participants. By default, it is set to Standard (360p) because it uses less data. However, your camera will then send a lower quality image to others. You can change it to High Definition (720p) to allow a better quality image.
- Send resolution – It is the image quality of your device that others see. Its configurations remain the same as above, i.e. high definition (720p) and standard definition (360p).
4]Allow Meet notifications
To receive notifications from Meet, configure your browser settings to allow notifications. To do this, go to ‘More“From your browser menu and select”Settings“
Scroll down and click on “Advanced“
Then under “Privacy and Security“, Choose”Site settings“
Then click on “Notifications“
Now choose ‘Meet»Entrance>«More‘then’To allow“
5]Record a video meeting
You can record video meetings so others can watch them later. However, this functionality is only available with the computer version of Meet. Mobile app users are simply notified when recording starts or stops, but cannot control the recording. To record a video meeting, first join the video meeting.
Then click ‘More’>‘Record meeting“
6]Send chat messages to video meeting participants
Google Meet is also designed for multitasking. So if you want to chat with someone while participating in the video call, it’s possible!
Access ”Chat»In the upper right corner.
Enter an SMS and press the “To send‘button.
7]Remove a participant from Google Meet
A participant from the domain that organized the video meeting can delete another participant if unruly behavior is observed. To do this, access the video conference call, click the “Back arrow », choosing the person and hittingRemove‘button. Likewise, you can choose to mute a participant’s microphone if you experience background noise during a video conference.
I hope this helps you!
