The general configuration of Microsoft forms looks pretty minimalist. This makes it very different from Google Forms which seems somewhat crowded. The service is also useful for those who want to create surveys, polls and quizzes. As a user, you can make it even better by using branching. Here’s how to use Connection in Microsoft Forms.

How to Add Branches in Microsoft Forms

Creating branches in Microsoft Forms offers students immediate quiz opportunities by leading them to different questions based on their previous answers. This helps students practice or review their skills and provides an overview of the areas in which each student may need additional work. To add a branch in Microsoft Forms,

  1. Select a branch
  2. Select the question you want to connect to
  3. Choose End of form

Before you start, make sure you are ready to answer any questions. Otherwise, follow the instructions below.

1]Select a branch

Go to Microsoft Forms. Here, click on the ‘New shape“To start.

The action will open a blank form. Select ‘Untitled formAnd enter a name for your survey.

Hit the ‘Add newTo add a new question and answer choices for the same thing.

Add a few more questions in the same way.

When you’re ready to add branches, choose “More form parameters“(…) In the upper right corner of the screen, then select”Branching out

2]Select the questions you want to connect to

On the Connection options page, drop-down menus appear, right next to each answer to the question. Select the arrow to see a drop-down menu.

For each possible answer to the question, select the question to which you want to connect. For example, if the student chooses the correct answer to question 1, they can move on to the next question.

If the student chooses one of the incorrect answers, they will have the opportunity to review the competence of question 3 before returning to question 2.

3]Choose End of form

Choose ‘End of form»In the drop-down menu if you want only one question to be the last question in the quiz.

Repeat the above steps to create a connection for as many questions as you want.
