Windows 10 Action Center keeps a stack of all notifications from different applications. When an application sends a notification, it will display for 5 seconds, then it disappears. While five seconds is enough to grab your attention and help you take a look at the message, you sometimes want it to stay a little longer. In this article, we will explain how to reduce or increase the display time of Windows 10 notifications.
Increase the time to display Windows 10 notifications
The best way to contact missed notifications is to click on the action center. It will reveal all notifications grouped by applications. It also means that if you have too much, it becomes difficult to find the one you are looking for. If you find yourself in such a situation, it is best to increase the time that the notifications remain on the screen. Here's how you can change it:
- Use Win + I to open the settings.
- Navigate to the homepage> Ease of Access> Display
- Scroll to the end until you find the drop-down list for editing notifications.
- Here you can change the default time from 5 seconds to 7, 15, 30 or for another 1 minute or 5 minutes.
That done, the notifications will stay longer, but here's a little warning. Choose wisely. If you have notifications from multiple apps, the screen will be filled with notification cards.
The option to change the time of posting notifications is also available with our free internal product – Ultimate the Windows Tweaker. Look for it and change it. It will automatically make the changes in the background for you.
Finally, be sure to manage notifications in Windows 10 effectively so you do not get distracted.
You can also disable notifications for lower priority applications. You can edit them directly from the action center. Right-click any notification, and configure it accordingly.
