Activate the QR code generator in Edge
To activate the QR code generator in Edge Chromium, follow the instructions below.
- Open the Edge browser.
- Type edge: // flags in the Edge address bar and press Enter.
- Next type QR in the search flags area of the experimental page.
The flag # share-qr-generator-code would be disabled by default.
- Under the Activate the sharing page via QR Code, on the right of the window, click on Default.
- From the drop-down menu, select Activate.
- Close and reopen your Edge browser for the changes to take effect.
The flag of the QR code generator is now activated!
Edge would display the QR code icon in the address bar, and you can generate the QR code for any website by clicking on the icon.
What is the QR Code
The QR code (abbreviated from the quick response code), in practice often contains data for a locator, an identifier or a tracker that points to a website or application. A QR code uses four standardized coding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte / binary and kanji) to efficiently store data; extensions can also be used.
A QR code consists of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by an imaging device such as a camera and processed using Reed error correction – Solomon until the image can be interpreted appropriately. The required data are then extracted from the patterns present in the horizontal and vertical components of the image.
