To prevent domain name queries from being observed on the network, Chrome also implements DNS over HTTPS (DoH). The capability prevents ISPs on the network path from spying on DNS queries and using the information to target subscribers with selective advertisements. The DNS test over HTTPS (DoH) started in Chrome v79.
1]Security / privacy settings in Chrome
In terms of security, Chrome has introduced a new concept. It’s called Safe browsing. This feature allows the browser to check and report a page it finds unsafe. So if a user tries to visit or download a page that looks suspicious, the browser will report it instantly.
In addition to the above, you can configure new cookie controls in the browser’s private browsing mode. It supports a capacity that allows users block third-party cookies. As you know, blocking third-party cookies helps users maintain their privacy by preventing online advertisers from tracking users through the cookie file.
There is another section on the Chrome settings page that allows users to manage and delete cookies site by site. This is something new because the functionality that was previously seen in Firefox is now available for Chrome users. It gives users the possibility to delete a cookie site by site, without having to delete cookies on all sites!
2]Modified extensions menu
Departing from its previous arrangement, Chrome now displays its extensions menu as a small puzzle icon in the main toolbar. It focuses on easier access, because touching it easily displays a list of extensions. However, as before, you can pin the extensions to the right of the address bar. Extensions optimize your search and browsing experience. As such, it is necessary to access it more easily and more quickly!
3]Site settings
The redesigned site settings organize the browser window into two sections. The first deals with the following:
- Location
- Camera
- Microphone
- Notifications
- Other sensitive website preferences.
On the other hand, the new section lists recent activity on permissions.
4]Improved security control in Chrome
Chrome is now running a new “Security controle“, Visible under”Privacy and SecurityFrom Chrome. The main work of the Security controle is to make sure that no harmful extensions are installed on your computer. If it appears, it prompts the user to uninstall them immediately. Account-level integrations of the same functionality with Gmail and Drive offer protection based on a global view of threats you encounter on the web and attacks against your Google Account.
In addition to the above, the enhanced security feature easily scans Chrome to verify if the latest version of the browser is installed or not. It also controls user passwords, whether they are compromised or not when the secure browsing service is activated.
5]Tab groups
The Tab Groups feature helps users manage different workspaces together by allowing them to organize tabs into small groups on the tab bar. These tabs can then be renamed, moved to the tab bar and colored differently. In future releases, Google plans to add a feature that would completely shrink tab groups, so users can save more space on their tab bar.
Other than the above, other useful changes have been made to the browser, including web form controls. The joint efforts of Chrome and Edge developers have improved the appearance and function of HTML form controls. These commands now appear interactive and are easier to perceive.
If you don’t see the changed settings and enhanced features, don’t worry. Google plans to roll them out gradually.
