New Paste from other apps The setting comes with the iOS 16.1 update and aims to fix annoying “Do you want to paste from” pop-ups, which expose third-party apps when they try to copy the clipboard directly, without asking.
Paste from other applications not available?
This new option is available starting with iOS 16.1, which is currently being tested in beta and will most likely be released by the end of October, alongside iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura.
So make sure your device is running iOS 16.1 or later to be able to see this setting.
Paste from other apps not showing up?
If you’ve already updated to iOS 16.1 (beta) and still can’t find this setting, be aware that it only appears for apps that try to access the clipboard directly, without asking for the permission.
If you manually select some text and copy it, you won’t trigger this privacy setting because iOS will recognize your action as intended use.
Paste from other apps options
This new iOS 16 feature is available in Settings -> [App Name] -> Paste from other apps.
It comes with three options:
- Ask – Choosing this will cause the annoying Allow Pasting pop-ups to show up whenever you are using that specific app and the software tries to paste content from other apps.
- To refuse – Denies the app in question permission to paste content from other apps.
- Allow – Gives the app the right to paste content from other apps without asking for permission every time it does.
