Image password is a feature introduced in the Windows operating system that allows you to create three different gestures on any image of your choice and to use these gestures as a password. The gesture can be any combination of circles, straight lines and tapping. For example, if the image was a face, the password for your image could be a tap on each eye, then a circle around the mouth. In this post, we will present the solution to the problem of Image password option under Connection Options is not available after enabling it in Group Policy in Windows 10.
Let’s take a look at a typical scenario where you may encounter this anomaly.
In Windows 10, assume that you have applied one of the following Group Policy Object (GPO) configurations under:
Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Logon
Configuration 1
Activate connection by confidential code | Not configured |
Disable login by image password | Activated |
Configuration 2
Activate the connection by confidential code | disabled |
Disable login by image password | disabled |
You can follow the following registry key to ensure that the configuration is applied to clients under the registry path:
ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsSystem
Registry key 1
BlockDomainPicturePassword: REG_DWORD: 1
Registry key 2
BlockDomainPicturePassword: REG_DWORD: 0
Once the configuration has been applied to the client, the Image password option under Connection options is not available.
