Stage Manager greyed out after macOS Ventura update? This new macOS 13 feature not working and you can’t enable it in system settings because the toggle is not responding, like the feature is not available?

This issue was first reported by RaiD during macOS Ventura beta testing phases:

“The scene manager cannot be activated – there is no way to activate the corresponding function, the field has a gray background, i.e. inactive (in the control panel – desktop and dock ) the control center also displays functions for the controller, but it cannot be activated.

This issue continues to occur for some users in the macOS Ventura RC version:

“Yes, greyed-out stage manager for me too.”

How To Fix Stage Manager Not Working

  • 1. Open System Parameters and click on Desk and docking stationin the left sidebar.
  • 2. Under mission control, to light up “The screens have separate spaces”.
  • 3. Restart Mac and enable Stage Manager.
