The connection between your Windows 10 PC and the printer is established via a printer driver. In most cases everything works fine and looks good, but sometimes the printer does not respond and returns an error message 0x000007d1 – The specified driver is not valid. What steps should be taken to correct this behavior?
Operation could not be completed (error 0x000007d1), the specified driver is not valid
Printer error 0x000007d1, the specified driver is not valid
Normally, correcting a printer driver error is only a matter of updating, installing, or reinstalling the driver. If this method doesn't work, you can try a simple registry hack. But before you start, first create a system restore point.
Open the Registry Editor. Press the Win + R key in combination to display the ‘Run& #39; dialog box. In the empty field of the box, enter "regedit.exe" and press "Enter".
When the Registry Editor opens, access the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPrintPostSPUpgrade
Switch to the right pane to locate the PostSPUpgrade Entrance.
Right click on the entry and choose "Remove".
When prompted to confirm, select ‘Yes".
Now close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
Below, you should not see the specified driver invalid when you try to print something in Windows 10. You should also be able to do the print job.
