Top 4 Ways to Convert Any Photo to PDF on iPhone and iPad
The functionality to convert HEIC, PNG and JPEG formats to PDF is integrated with the iPhone and iPad. This is just not so obvious.
In addition, there are several methods for converting images to PDF using the Photos application or the Files application. To make things even better, you can also combine and convert multiple images into a single PDF file.
Convert an image to PDF with the help of the application Photos
The Photos app on your iPhone and iPad provides two methods for converting images to PDF. The first method requires the use of a simple gesture when printing a photo, while the second involves sharing the image with the Books application.
Note: You can also combine multiple images and convert them into a single PDF file. However, the order in which they will appear in the PDF file will be determined solely by the way in which they will appear in the Photos application itself (from the oldest to the most recent). You can work around this problem by using the Files application (mentioned below below).
1. Photos App – Pinch the gesture
This method does not require you to print a photo. Instead, you must perform a pinch gesture in the Print Options screen. Surprisingly, this action will convert the image to PDF, after which you can share it with your contacts, transfer it to another application, or save it to local storage.
Step 1: Open the Photos application, and then visit the album containing the photo you want to convert. After that, tap and hold the thumbnail of the photo and tap Share on the pop-up menu.
If you want to select multiple photos, enter the selection mode (press Select in the upper right corner of the screen). Then select the items you want to convert, then tap the Share icon.
2nd step: Tap Print on the share sheet. In the Printer Options screen that appears next, perform a pinch gesture (or zoom in). The photo will immediately be converted to PDF. If you had multiple images selected, all elements would be automatically converted (and combined).
Step 3: Tap the Share icon. You can then share the PDF file or save it locally (tap Save to files).
It was quite simple, is not it? Well, the next method is even easier.
2. Photos App – Copy to Books
Sharing photos on the Books app is another very simple way to convert them to PDF. This method automatically saves the converted files and you can access them on other iOS devices if iCloud sync is enabled for the Books app.
Step 1: Open the Photos application, and then long-press the image you want to convert. In the context menu, select Share.
Once again, if you want to convert multiple items, switch to select mode, choose the photos you want to convert, and then tap the Share icon.
2nd step: On the share sheet, press Books in the top row. The image or images will be converted automatically and the PDF file will appear in the Library section of the Books application.
Note: If you do not see the Books option, drag to the right of the share sheet, and then tap More to add it.
You can perform different actions. You can view the PDF file, rename it, make annotations and annotations, and even share it with other applications and contacts.
Convert an image to PDF with the help of the Files application
Compared to the Photos application, converting images to PDF in the Files application is extremely convenient because you do not have to interact in the share sheets. And the converted photos will be automatically saved to the same location as the original, which further adds to the convenience.
The only problem is that your photo library is not accessible through the Files application. This works best for downloaded images, screen captures, and scanned documents that you have saved directly to the Files application.
1. File Application – Single Image
To convert a photo, simply tap the file in the Files to Convert application, and then tap Create PDF. And that's all.
The converted PDF file will appear in the same place. You can then preview it, send it to another application, or share it with others.
2. App Files – Multiple Images
When converting multiple images to PDF, the Files application converts them in alphabetical or numeric order. But unlike the Photos application, you can rename the files in the order in which you want them to appear before you convert them. Which is nice.
Step 1: Rename your photos in the correct order so that they appear in the converted PDF file. To rename an item, tap and hold the file, then tap Rename. Tap Done to apply the new file name.
2nd step: Once you have finished renaming the images, enter the selection mode and select the photos to convert. Then, tap the three-dot icon at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3: In the menu that appears, tap Create PDF. You can then find the converted PDF file in the same place. You can preview it, move it to another location, or share it with other applications and contacts.
Point: You can not convert multiple photos to PDF in a particular order using the Photos application. So just copy them into the Files application, rename them accordingly, and then convert them.
PDF works better
The ability to convert images – especially scanned documents – to PDF transparently on the iPhone and iPad is simply fantastic. Obviously, the methods listed above can sometimes be a little embarrassing. But they exceeded the goal of downloading a third-party application downloaded from the App Store. Well done, Apple.
