Simply put, there is not enough disk space on your computer. You will need to free up space on the destination drive or part, and then try to move the app again. Now that what needs to be done is clear, follow these methods to free up space on your hard drive or use other methods.

  • Create space on the destination partition or drive
    • Find what takes up space on the disk
    • Free up and increase hard drive space on a Windows 10 computer
    • Move the application
  • Move to another drive or partition

Before you go ahead, it only applies to apps and games you download from the Microsoft Store, not regular EXE files.

We have a list of free apps that can help you find what is taking up space on my hard drive in Windows 10/8/7. Once you know which files are taking up space, you can move them to another location or to external storage. Even uploading to an online storage solution is viable these days. Make sure you have more, at least twice, storage space compared to the actual size of the app you want to move.

Go to Settings (Win + I) and access the applications and features. Locate the application you want to move and note the size of the application. Make sure you have more space than that in the destination drive.

Move the application

Finally, move the app. Select the application in the Applications and Features section, then click the move button. It will reveal where the application is currently installed, then allow you to choose the destination drive or partition. Once you have selected this, click the Move button to start the process. The completion of the process will depend on the size of the application and will not get stuck due to storage issues.

2]Move to another drive or partition

Move apps in Windows 10

A simple way is to switch to another drive or partition, which has more space. Usually apps and games that take up a lot of space on your primary drive can be moved, so not only do apps not slow down as files get larger, the primary partition on which Windows is installed also has enough space to operate.

It is particularly useful in the case of SSDs, where the drive slows down as storage becomes low.

It is clear that the error occurs due to lack of storage space and the only solution is to empty the space on the destination folder and then try to move it.
