Why Can't I Share Instagram Posts to My Story

Why Can't I Share Instagram Posts to My Story

Instagram has many cool features. One of them is the ability to share articles from your feed to stories. Interestingly, you can share your own messages and those of someone else in your stories. While this sounds exciting to hear, some Instagram users do not have the “ Add posts to story ” button. Wondering why you can’t share articles with stories on Instagram? Let’s find the answer.

Sharing messages on stories has many benefits. First, it increases the visibility of messages. Second, if you share someone else’s messages, it makes it personal and interactive, especially if you have a work account. Finally, it’s easier than taking screenshots of the message and adding them to your story.

Let’s see what is the reason for not being able to share messages and how to fix it.

Why can’t I share messages on Story on Instagram

There are three main reasons for this. Let’s see them.

1. Type of account

The “Add item to item” button is only available for public accounts. If you are trying to share a post from a private account, you will not see the button in the share menu below the post. Check posts from other accounts, preferably a celebrity, and see if you can view the sharing option.

Note: It doesn’t matter whether your account is private or public. We are talking about the account from which you want to share.

To check if the Instagram account is private or public, open the Instagram website in incognito mode. Then find the same account. The profile would be public if their publications are visible. If the messages are hidden, the profile is private. You will also see the text “This account is private”.

2. Authorization to share

Now, if the account is public, another thing that may be responsible for the missing “Add Story Post” button is permission to share. In other words, the other person may have disabled the ability to let other people share their Instagram posts with stories. If this is the case, you will not see the button for this account. But, check the posts of other public accounts. Again, it does not matter whether you have activated this option for your account or not. It depends on the account from which you are trying to share.

Finally, functionality may be missing for your profile. Instagram generally deploys features in phases. In other words, not everyone gets the features at the same time. Even if they do, the functionality may disappear randomly. However, you can try the following fixes to get the “Add an article to the story” button.

4. Check from another phone

If you want to share a post as your story, you can try connecting from another phone. Even if the solution seems weird, it worked for many users. Once they log in from another phone, they can see the “Add a post to the story” button on their own account.

Try a new account

If you’ve recently joined Instagram and have a small number of subscribers, you can try creating a new account. Most new accounts have this feature. However, we do not suggest creating a new account if you have many Instagram followers. We know how difficult it is to gain followers on Instagram.

The best you can do is wait. Meanwhile, you should take a screenshot of the message and add it to your story. Remember to mark the person.
