Microsoft Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, or Vista users may receive an error when attempting to disconnect a user using Task Manager. Here’s how to work around this problem.
User username (SessionId=2) could not be disconnected. Access is denied.
- Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, then choose “Task Manager” to open the Task Manager the window.
- Select the “Processtab “
- Picking out “View processes from all users“.
- When prompted, enter the administrator password.
- The task manager should now be running in administrator mode. End of task for processes run by logged off users.
- Go to “Users” and log out the user. You may also want to log out any other users who are “logged out”.
For users physically connected to the console, all processes should be “Closed” or “End Task”. In some cases, this process will not work. In this case, you may need to log in with another account that has administrator rights.
